Job Description Summary:
Assists physicians with endoscopic procedures by setting up the equipment, helping with the actual procedure, cleaning the equipment and room, and entering charges. Assists nursing staff with clerical duties and patient care when available.
Responsibilities And Duties:
1. Maintains a safe and therapeutic patient care environment. 2. Demonstrates competence in providing care and services to patients based on the patients age specific and/or functional needs. 3. All employees shall abide by the Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act HIPA a regulations, which help protect the privacy, security, & confidentiality of patient health information. 4. Responsible for ensuring that person al performance reflects the Mission, Vision and Service Pride Standards. 5. Sets up scope room with the required equipment and supplies necessary to perform procedures. 6. Assists the physician by turning on the equipment, holding the scope when necessary, operating accessories such as forceps, brushes, snares. 7. Cleans equipment following each procedure as directed by the manufacturer and maintains the scope room by restocking and cleaning. 8. Records the number of procedures on the endoscopic statistics record. 9. Assists the nurses in the provision of patient care through transcription of physician orders. 10. Assists the nurses in the provision of patient care by obtaining supplies and equipment. In addition, returns supplies, equipment, specimens, etc. to the proper location. 1 1. Provides direct patient care as assigned by the RN in a safe and effective manner, including assisting with patients nutritional/fluid needs, hygiene, elimination needs, mobility and measuring vital statistics. Documents care provided according to unit standards and Patient Care Policy/Protocol/Procedure. 12. Performs the job duties of a unit clerk or nurse assistant when required. 13. Performs other duties as assigned, some of which may be essential to the position.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School or GED (Required)BLS - Basic Life Support -

Work requires a high school level of communication and/or math skills plus a year or less of training and 3 to 6 months of time on the job. No Certification required. Work requires the ability to gather and interpret data in situations where the information or problems are not difficult or complex. Work requires exchanging factual information such as interpreting and explaining instructions and procedures to patients/families and contacting outside suppliers. Work is performed in accordance with instructions and procedures but requires organizing work, setting priorities, and informing supervision when exceptions are made.
