Lansing, MI Job Description General Purpose of Job :
The Endoscopy technician provides smooth work flow in the department through effective communication, equipment setup and disinfection of endoscopes to facilitate procedures to occur in a clean, safe, and timely manner.
Essential Duties :
This job description is intended to cover the minimum essential duties assigned on a regular basis. Caregivers may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned by their leader. Leadership has the right to alter or modify the duties of the position. Demonstrates ICARE values when interacting with all persons within the Hospital environment and community. Prepares instruments and rooms for patient procedures. Inventories and replenishes supplies. Ensures equipment is in safe working condition. Assists with moving equipment to other work areas in the Hospital (x-ray, OR). Answers call lights for room turnover. Delivers and obtains items from other departments. Maintains Hospital standards by participating in-services, committees, etc. Assists RN with patients, when appropriate. Cleans, disinfects and/or sterilizes equipment according to department policy. Participates in quality improvement activities; assists in maintaining compliance with Joint Commission and other internal and external regulatory standards. Assists with orientation of new caregivers. Performs other duties assigned. Serves as a role model for consistent demonstration of Sparrow Health System's Customer Service Behavioral Standards of Performance, by respecting the Privacy and Confidentiality of those we serve. Demonstrates knowledge and respects patient, service provider, organizational confidentiality and HIPAA Security procedures and protocols as defined under the HIPAA Privacy and Security Procedures. Follows established HIPAA privacy procedures when using and/or disclosing protected health information and maintains and protects patients' rights under the HIPAA Privacy Standards. Job Requirements General Requirements Preferred - Certified Endoscopy Tech Work Experience None Education High School education or G.E. D. Specialized Knowledge and Skills
  • Demonstrates ability to use a keyboard as may be required to perform the essential duties of the job.
  • Interpersonal skills to appropriately communicate with patients, families, and other hospital Associates.
  • Preferred - Skilled in utilizing a variety of endoscopy equipment.
  • This position will float between the following locations as scheduled: Sparrow Hospital & Sparrow Health Center.
