Days Position Summary:
Assist in the nursing care and preparation of G.I. Lab/Endoscopy Center patients. Function as a member of the procedure team in issuing supplies and instruments to Endoscopists. Ensure adherence to Hospitals and departmental policies and procedures. Patient care assignment may include; Neonate, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult and Geriatric age groups.
Detailed responsibilities:
EQUIPMENT & SUPPLIES
- Work with staff team to gather necessary supplies, equipment and instruments
PREPARATION
- Assist in preparing patient and procedure area; prepare and maintain endoscopy video cart, light source, supplies, endoscope, instillation pump and lab containers
SPECIMENS
- Assist in maintenance and care of specimens; prepare specimens for laboratory analysis
ADMISSIONS
- Assist with patient admission to Admitting and Recovery
PATIENT TRANSPORT
- Transport patients to and from requesting areas; ensure adherence to all safety measures
EQUIPMENT & SUPPLIES
- Decontaminate all equipment, instruments, and supplies
DOCUMENTATION
- Document all patient care activity, provider and instrument utilization in electronic medical record or hard copy as appropriate; complete all billing sheets
- STOCK
- Perform restocking duties as necessary
SPECIAL PROCEDURES
- Function as a service coordinator with RN for special procedure preparations
DEVELOPMENT
- Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, reading current literature, attending in-services, meetings and workshops
