Days Position Summary:
Assist in the nursing care and preparation of G.I. Lab/Endoscopy Center patients. Function as a member of the procedure team in issuing supplies and instruments to Endoscopists. Ensure adherence to Hospitals and departmental policies and procedures. Patient care assignment may include; Neonate, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult and Geriatric age groups.
Detailed responsibilities:
EQUIPMENT & SUPPLIES
•Work with staff team to gather necessary supplies, equipment and instruments
PREPARATION
•Assist in preparing patient and procedure area; prepare and maintain endoscopy video cart, light source, supplies, endoscope, instillation pump and lab containers
SPECIMENS
•Assist in maintenance and care of specimens; prepare specimens for laboratory analysis
ADMISSIONS
•Assist with patient admission to Admitting and Recovery
PATIENT TRANSPORT
•Transport patients to and from requesting areas; ensure adherence to all safety measures
EQUIPMENT & SUPPLIES
•Decontaminate all equipment, instruments, and supplies
DOCUMENTATION
•Document all patient care activity, provider and instrument utilization in electronic medical record or hard copy as appropriate; complete all billing sheets STOCK•Perform restocking duties as necessary
SPECIAL PROCEDURES
•Function as a service coordinator with RN for special procedure preparations
DEVELOPMENT
•Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, reading current literature, attending in-services, meetings and workshops

•Follow patient safety-related policies, procedures and protocols

•Demonstrate proactive approach to patient safety by seeking opportunities to improve patient safety through questioning of current policies and processes

•Identify and report/correct environmental conditions and/or situations that may put a patient at undue risk
PATIENT SAFETY 4
•Report potential or actual patient safety concerns, medical errors and/or near misses in a timely manner
PATIENT SAFETY 5
•Encourage patients to actively participate in their own care by asking questions and reporting treatment or situations that they don't understand or may "not seem right"
PATIENT CENTERED MED
•Adhere to and promote the core expectations of the Patient Centered Medical Home or Patient Centered Specialty Practice as applicable

Surgical Technician Medical Assistant Program
Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates Program Experience:

1 year directly related experience

No preferred experience
Credentials:
Essential:
CPR for Healthcare/BLS Prov or Prof Rescuers w/in 30 days
Physical Conditions:
Medium Work:
Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
