Days Position Summary:
Assist in the nursing care and preparation of G.I. Lab/Endoscopy Center patients. Function as a member of the procedure team in issuing supplies and instruments to Endoscopists. Ensure adherence to Hospitals and departmental policies and procedures. Patient care assignment may include; Neonate, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult and Geriatric age groups.Detailed responsibilities:
EQUIPMENT & SUPPLIES
•Work with staff team to gather necessary supplies, equipment and instrumentsPREPARATION
•Assist in preparing patient and procedure area; prepare and maintain endoscopy video cart, light source, supplies, endoscope, instillation pump and lab containersSPECIMENS
•Assist in maintenance and care of specimens; prepare specimens for laboratory analysisADMISSIONS
•Assist with patient admission to Admitting and RecoveryPATIENT TRANSPORT
•Transport patients to and from requesting areas; ensure adherence to all safety measuresEQUIPMENT & SUPPLIES
•Decontaminate all equipment, instruments, and suppliesDOCUMENTATION
•Document all patient care activity, provider and instrument utilization in electronic medical record or hard copy as appropriate; complete all billing sheets STOCK•Perform restocking duties as necessarySPECIAL PROCEDURES
•Function as a service coordinator with RN for special procedure preparationsDEVELOPMENT
•Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, reading current literature, attending in-services, meetings and workshopsPATIENT SAFETY 1
•Follow patient safety-related policies, procedures and protocolsPATIENT SAFETY 2
•Demonstrate proactive approach to patient safety by seeking opportunities to improve patient safety through questioning of current policies and processesPATIENT SAFETY 3
•Identify and report/correct environmental conditions and/or situations that may put a patient at undue riskPATIENT SAFETY 4
•Report potential or actual patient safety concerns, medical errors and/or near misses in a timely mannerPATIENT SAFETY 5
