The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in assisting medical professionals during endoscopy procedures, ensuring patient safety and comfort while maintaining high standards of care.   • Friday, 8 hours shifts between time-frame 6:00 AM
  • 5:00 PM, 40 hours a week. Pay rate commensurate with experience

Position Summary The Endoscopy GI Technician assists physicians, registered nurses, and the perioperative team during gastrointestinal endoscopic procedures in a fast-paced ambulatory surgery center setting. The GI Tech is responsible for preparation of procedure rooms, handling and processing endoscopic equipment, maintaining infection prevention standards, supporting patient flow, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards, including those established by The Joint Commission (JCAHO), OSHA, CDC, and state/federal guidelines. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Patient Care & Procedure Assistance Prepare procedure rooms for upper and lower GI endoscopic procedures including colonoscopy, EGD, flexible sigmoidoscopy, and related procedures. Assist physicians and nursing staff during procedures by anticipating equipment and supply needs. Position and transport patients safely according to facility protocols. Assist with specimen collection, labeling, and transport. Monitor and stock procedure rooms with required supplies and equipment. Provide support to patients before and after procedures while maintaining patient privacy and dignity. Endoscope Reprocessing & Infection Control Perform high-level disinfection and reprocessing of endoscopes and accessories in accordance with manufacturer IFUs, CDC guidelines, and facility policy. Conduct leak testing, manual cleaning, and automated endoscope reprocessor (AER) operation. Maintain accurate documentation logs for scope tracking, sterilization, and quality assurance. Ensure compliance with infection prevention standards and JCAHO requirements. Identify malfunctioning equipment and report issues promptly. Equipment & Environmental Responsibilities Maintain cleanliness and organization of procedure rooms, storage areas, and reprocessing areas. Perform daily equipment checks and assist with preventive maintenance. Ensure crash carts, oxygen, suction, and emergency equipment are properly stocked and available. Assist with inventory management and supply ordering as directed. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. GI Technical Specialist (SGNA) certification preferred or obtained within designated timeframe. BLS certification required. Previous endoscopy, sterile processing, surgical tech, or ambulatory surgery center experience preferred. Knowledge of endoscope reprocessing standards and infection prevention practices preferred. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced procedural environment. Skills & Competencies Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Knowledge of aseptic technique and infection control practices. Ability to communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, patients, and staff. Ability to prioritize tasks and respond quickly in urgent situations. Basic computer and documentation skills. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 25-50 pounds as required. Manual dexterity sufficient to handle delicate endoscopic equipment. Ability to wear required PPE and comply with infection control standards. Work Environment Ambulatory Surgery Center / Outpatient Endoscopy Center Exposure to bodily fluids, cleaning chemicals, and sterilization agents. Fast-paced procedural and patient-care environment.
