Job Description

The HLD Endoscopy Technician is responsible for the processing of equipment requiring HLD in accordance with the guidelines set forth by the hospitals/endoscopy governing bodies. Performs all duties required to maintain the high standard of disinfection of all endoscopy equipment, TEE probes, and supplies. The position requires the employee to monitor and to perform quality testing as it pertains to HLD.
Responsibilities:
+ Performs HLD of all endoscopes and accessories post procedure including but not limited to: colonoscopes, EGD scopes, ERCP scopes, bronchoscopes, laryngoscopes and TEE probes. + Ensures 5 day re-processing of all scopes are completed. + Maintains current level of expertise in the HLD process for all departments. Demonstrates the proper care and handling of endoscopes and endoscope equipment. + Communicates with the manager any potential breech in HLD protocol. + Demonstrates the ability to effectively document all quality check information. Uses department resources as needed to ensure stringent quality measures are met. + Evaluates HLD processes and procedures to ensure we are compliant with current practices set forth by the governing bodies. + Performs competencies at least annually to ensure HLD process is completed accurately. + Procures items from the storeroom to replenish shelves as needed. Keeps the work area stocked and in functional order. + Ensures that all documentation on machine print outs and processing logs are completed and accurate. Ensures all log sheets are completed and accurate. + Disposes of hazardous waste appropriately. + Maintains OSHA safe working environment, standards of care and guidelines. + Ensures workstation is wiped down according to the units guidelines. Cleans, stocks, and organizes workstation at the end of shift. Demonstrates the ability to neatly organize the working area to ensure the effective operations of the department. + High School diploma or equivalent.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
