A Brief Overview Provides technical assistance to the physician and RN during the Endoscopic procedure under the supervision of the RN and ensures the Endoscopic suite is adequately prepared for the procedure. Monitors PAR levels of the Endoscopy equipment and supplies and contributes to the safe and sterile endoscopy environment. Cleans and sterilizes the Endoscopic scopes and equipment and completes other duties as assigned. What you will do Assists the RN/Physician with proper positioning of the patient. Ensures appropriate supplies are available for the physician. Identifies supplies and equipment necessary to perform specific endoscopic procedures. Tests equipment for proper functioning and availability prior to procedures Performs skilled technical tasks under the supervision of the registered nurse or physician. Participates in physician updates and notifies the physician/RN if there is an issue with aseptic technique during the procedure. Order and restock supplies as needed Demonstrates competence in proper handling, labeling, transporting and logging of specimens. Handles endoscopes appropriately. Demonstrates proper preparation and high-level disinfection of Endoscopes Education Qualifications High School Diploma or GED Required Certificate as an Anesthesia Tech, Surgical Technologist, LPN or Medical Assistant from an accredited Preferred Experience Qualifications Minimum 1 year Endoscopy Technician experience Preferred Minimum 1 year experience as an Anesthesia Technician or Surgical Technician in the Operating Room Required or Minimum of 1 year experience as a Medical Assistant in critical care arena Required Prior experience with airway management, sterile equipment, and sterile fields Required Skills and Abilities Ability to works with patients, families, physicians and other health care providers. Prior EMR experience preferred. Exemplary verbal communication skills required. Exemplary core customer service skills required. Familiar with PC's required. Licenses and Certifications Certified Medical Assistant
  • American Association of Medical Assistants Preferred or Certified Surgical Technologist
  • National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting Preferred or Certified Nursing Assistant
  • National Nurse Aide Assessment Program Preferred or Licensed Practical Nurse
  • South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation Preferred or Certified Anesthesia Technician
  • American Society of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians Preferred or Basic Life Support Certified
  • American Heart Association within 30 Days Required Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Certified
