The position is the Fitness/Exercise Specialist for the CRIT Special Diabetes Project (SDP) under the supervision of the Special Diabetes Project Manager. The incumbent will provide fitness and exercise services and assistance for the participants of the SDP exercise program.Duties & Functions:
(The following are illustrations of the typical duties and responsibilities of the incumbent and are not to be construed as all inclusive) 1. Assist in the management of day-to-day operations of the fitness and exercise programs operated by the Special Diabetes Project. 2. Ensure the safety of the participant is the first priority. 3. Keeps all fitness equipment and accessories in excellent working condition and oversees preventative maintenance program. 4. Facilitate community, group and individual exercise classes and activities. 5. Motivate and encourage participants, creating fun and enjoyable exercise programs for participants of all ages. 6. Works with staff and facility to ensure cleanliness standards and conducts walkthrough in fitness department. 7. Performs fitness assessments, body composition analysis and records the progress of each participant. 8. Provide orientation to participants regarding the proper usage of the exercise equipment. 9. Handle and resolve all participant issues or concerns relating to the SDP fitness center's programs and operations. 10. Assist in creating incentives for participants to enjoy their exercise program. 11. Prepare monthly activity reports for submission to Project Manager. 12. Participate and help plan community workshops and award banquet presentations. 13. Perform other responsibilities or projects related to health and wellness as assigned by the Project Manager or designee to fulfill the Department's needs, objectives and/or goals. 14. Follow established Tribal policies and those outlined in the Colorado River Indian Tribes Employee Handbook. Required Skills & Abilities 1. Must be organized, self-motivated, and able to work with minimal supervision. 2. Comply with Tribal and Federal laws that require strict confidentiality of all records, charts and files.Education & Experience Requirements:
I. High School Diploma orG.E.D. 2.
Associates of Arts degree in physical education or a minimum of three (3) years' work experience in a related field. 3. Knowledgeable in the Prevention, Primary, Secondary and Tertiary health issues related with Diabetes Mellitus. 4. Current Fitness Instructor Certification or be able to obtain certification with in six (6) months of employment (SOP will assist with certifications). 5. Certified in CPR/First Aide (SOP will assist with certifications). 6. Three (3) to five (5) years personal health and wellness experience. 7. Must possess a current valid driver's license throughout employment.Physical Requirement:
1. Be able to stand at least eight (8) hours. 2. Must successfully complete a drug screening test prior to appointment. 3. Physically able to perform duties assigned. 4. Occasionally work extended shifts as assigned, some weekends and holiday.Tribal and Indian Preference:
