As the Exercise Specialist, you will design and deliver engaging wellness programs that support the overall health and well-being of older adults across all levels of ability. You will lead individual and group fitness activities while promoting a holistic approach to wellness that includes physical, social, emotional, and intellectual engagement. This role also involves coordinating events, encouraging community participation, and maintaining a safe and welcoming fitness environment. Through a person-centered approach, you will help foster independence, confidence, and an active lifestyle for all participants. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Deliver personalized fitness training sessions and lead group exercise classes tailored to older adults with varying abilities and health conditions. Support a holistic wellness approach by integrating physical, social, emotional, intellectual, spiritual, vocational, and environmental well-being into programming. Plan, promote, and facilitate wellness initiatives, educational workshops, and health-focused events to encourage active participation. Develop and distribute promotional materials such as flyers, newsletters, and bulletin updates to increase awareness of wellness programs and activities. Foster a welcoming and engaging environment that encourages social connection, cognitive engagement, and confidence-building among participants. Maintain cleanliness, safety, and organization of fitness spaces, ensuring all equipment is functioning properly and used appropriately. Coordinate logistics for wellness events, including setup, materials, decorations, and recognition items. Stay informed on and adhere to all relevant regulations, policies, and operational procedures. Apply person-centered care principles and promote a culture of respect, compassion, teamwork, and high-quality service in all interactions. Collaborate with team members to support a positive community environment aligned with wellness and healthy aging philosophies. Other duties as assigned Qualifications Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively engage diverse audiences. Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science or a closely related field required. Current professional certification from a recognized organization such as ACSM, NSCA, NASM, or ACE. Hands-on experience delivering personal training, leading group fitness, or supporting wellness programming in settings such as fitness centers, rehabilitation programs, or corporate wellness environments. Familiarity with wellness programming for older adults or experience in senior living environments is preferred. Ability to remain available and responsive during emergency situations or natural disasters as needed. Current CPR certification must be maintained.
