We are rapidly growing and looking for passionate, creative and motivated employees to join our team! This is a non-exempt, hourly position within our Fitness & Aquatics team. The schedule is full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday. As a Fitness Specialist, your duties would include but are not limited to: Ensure completion of appropriate paperwork and collection and distribution of data prior to initiation of services for all clients. Complete / ensure completion of all documentation per established guidelines for all new and existing clients. Complete an evaluation for all appropriate referrals and develop individualized exercise prescriptions based upon those results and physician's recommendations, as well as, consideration of input from the client or other health care professionals. Consult with Director, and / or COO when evaluation results deem client inappropriate based upon program criteria. Provide educational training regarding objectives and benefits of Fitness and Pool, safe use of equipment, how to exercise safely, how to recognize the target heart rate and a safe perceived exertion level, and how to take a pulse. Assist clients as needed to ensure safety during transfers, safety when accessing / releasing exercise equipment, policies and procedures of programs in the pool. Maintain vigilance at all times of the fitness center. Observe clients during exercise for signs of stress and respond accordingly. Remain with clients who require close supervision as needed. Monitor individual programs periodically to make changes as appropriate to ensure the program meets clients needs and maximizes overall physical fitness. Provide training and supervision for rehabilitation aides to assist in provision of direct health and wellness services. Assist with performance of minor cleaning and "preventive maintenance" checks on all equipment periodically to ensure safety of operation.
Assist with pool coverage:
lifeguard duty (if certified and needed); on deck assistance; opening and closing procedures and water / chemical checks. Provide Private Personal Fitness Training (PPFT) as opportunity arises, following program guidelines. Help with planning, organization and/or instruction of special seminars, clinics, and/or exercise classes as needed. Pursue continuing education opportunities for learning new procedures / techniques in the field of exercise and rehabilitation as necessary to maintain licensure and / or specialized certifications. Complete all agency mandatory in-services and competency testing annually and maintain CPR and First Aid certification.
