Position Summary:
Responsible for setting up and running exercise and chemical stress tests while collecting data (EKG and Vital signs) based on provider orders, clinical assessment and protocols. Supervise individuals during therapeutic exercise sessions, ensuring safety. Provide education for people with cardiac disease, or high-risk individuals, based on client assessment or testing. Prepares and cleans exercise and testing equipment. Accurately records physiological data. Guides patients through programs, offering motivation and answering questions. Responsible for recognizing and responding to emergency situations, following appropriate emergency protocols. What the Exercise Physiologist will do: Demonstrates knowledge and indications for different types of stress tests. Performs diagnostic cardiac exercise stress test on symptomatic cardiac patients. Types of stress tests this position performs include: Treadmill stress test (may also include an echocardiogram following the treadmill portion); Nuclear stress test; Pharmacologic stress test Works collaboratively with cardiac sonographers, nuclear medical technologists and registered nurses. Follows THGR Cardiovascular protocols for the following: patient assessment, preparation, ECG monitoring for changes, test quality and monitoring patient within the recovery stage. Communicates with the Cardiologist regarding any significant abnormal ECG changes. Documents appropriate information throughout the entirety for physician interpretation. Responsible for cleaning equipment, and for equipment repair notification. Designs, implements and evaluates exercise prescriptions and including appropriate documentation. Educates patients independently and in collaboration with the registered nurse regarding healthy lifestyle and changes related to their disease process. Develops, implements and evaluates programs to promote cardiovascular disease recognition and treatment. Ensures appropriate compensation for services provided via appropriate pre-approval and billing processes. Responsible for cleaning of equipment, equipment repair notification and keeping exercise clutter free. What the Exercise Physiologist will need: Bachelor's Degree in Health Science or related field. Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification Clinical stress testing or cardiac rehab internship/observation.
Preferred:
American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) Exercise Specialist certification.
Preferred:
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
