This internship allows you to build foundational skills, observe patient progression over multiple visits, and better understand how therapists create and adapt treatment plans over time. What's In It for You Full-time, structured day shift summer experience Hands-on exposure to outpatient rehabilitation at BLIRC Opportunity to observe patient progress across multiple visits Experience working closely with Physical and Occupational Therapists Insight into exercise progression, patient education, and goal-setting Exposure to a wellness-focused, patient-centered environment Mentorship from experienced outpatient rehab professionals A strong foundation for PT, OT, or other healthcare career paths What You'll Be Doing Support therapists with non-billable patient care activities in an outpatient setting Assist with therapeutic exercises and activities under therapist supervision Prepare treatment areas, equipment, and materials for patient sessions Observe evaluations, treatment planning, and patient progress over time Assist with patient flow, including escorting and preparing patients for sessions Document exercises and interactions in the electronic medical record (as appropriate) Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming clinical environment Stock supplies and ensure equipment is ready for daily use Provide excellent customer service to patients and visitors Assist with administrative tasks such as scheduling support and answering phones What You'll Bring Interest in pursuing a career in rehabilitation or healthcare Strong interpersonal skills and comfort engaging with patients regularly Curiosity about exercise progression, recovery, and patient outcomes Ability to follow direction and support therapist-driven care plans A positive, professional, and team-oriented attitude Reliability and attention to detail Comfort working with patients across a variety of ages and conditions What to Expect This is a full-time, day shift internship in a collaborative outpatient environment. You'll see many patients over the course of your internship—often multiple times—giving you a unique view into how relationships, consistency, and clinical decision-making impact long-term outcomes. The pace is steady and patient-focused, with opportunities to engage, learn, and grow each day. This experience is ideal for individuals who enjoy building connections and are interested in the ongoing journey of recovery.
