Job Description

1. Essential Functions Evaluate, plan, and administer patient treatment upon referral of physician using all the techniques and modalities of Exercise Physiologist. Provide risk factor identification and lifestyle management education and service to individuals with or at risk for cardiovascular, pulmonary, and metabolic disease. Interview participant to assess the appropriateness and readiness of daily exercise session. Take pre, post, and during exercise manual blood pressures. Analyze and interpret cardiac rhythm strips. Monitoring participants for inappropriate responses to exercise. Assist cardiac rehab staff with other tasks as assigned. Educate patients in risk factors and lifestyle changes. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one, small group situations or before groups of customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Serves as a role model of cardiovascular health. Desire to work within a comprehensive health care team. Participates in continuing education programs and seminars to maintain current competency in cardiovascular care and cardiac rehabilitation related concepts. Maintains confidential, appropriate participant records in accordance with accepted standards. i.e DNV, Medicare, HIPAA. Review and report participant progress and problems to the hospitalist and/or the referring physicians. Identify any emergencies or health concerns that could warrant additional medical attention and communicate with a team of providers to establish best care. Writes initial and follow-up exercise programs for Live Well Fitness participants, following physician's recommendation, specifying equipment, for example treadmill, elliptical machine, or bike. Leads/Co-leads individual and group-based fitness classes (aerobic, strength, balance, flexibility, etc.). Participate in the development of new programs to enhance revenue. Maintain a clean and safe exercise facility. 2. Relationship Management Treats patients and all others with courtesy and respect. Strives to welcome and be helpful towards any customers in contact with. Receives no patient/family/staff dissatisfaction comments annually. Effectively manages relationships with co-workers. Confronts negative attitudes and addresses conflicts appropriately. Adheres to the Bill of Rights and follows confidentiality policy. 3. Employment Expectations Good attendance - no more than 3 unexcused absences in a 3-month period or 6 in a 12-month period. Attend 80% of monthly department meetings -10/12 meetings. Attend all mandatory training that is assigned by Manager/Executive, Staff Development Nurse or HR. Be a team player. Help coworkers with projects, patients or cover for absences/pick up shifts. 4. Frequent sitting, walking, crouching, stooping, twisting, turning/pivoting, keyboarding, talking/hearing in person/on phone, and repetitive hand movements. Occasional stationary standing, reaching overhead, grasping, pinching, lifting/carrying, pushing/pulling, and use of vision for close work/color vision. This position does not require repetitive lifting/carrying or pushing/pulling in excess of 30 pounds. Ability to perform various exercise to instruct new members or teach classes. Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science or related field required, Master's degree preferred. Certification as a Certified Cardiac Rehabilitation Professional (CCRP) by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation required within 18 months from date of hire in position. Must have American Heart Association (BLS) and ACLS (American Heart Association) within three months of hire. The Exercise Physiologist provides patient services. Assists with day-to-day clinical operations of Cardiac Rehabilitation. Good Communication Skills. Must be able to analyze and interpret cardiac rhythms strips and cardiac monitoring strips. Must demonstrate ability to take manual vital signs. This is a full-time (1.0 FTE, 80 hours per two weeks) position in our Cardiac Rehabilitation and Live Well Fitness Center.
