Job Description

The ideal candidate will provide quality patient care and possess knowledge of reading EKGs and telemetry strips, various coronary artery diseases and treatments, cardiopulmonary anatomy and physiology, obtaining manual blood pressures and glucose monitoring. Must be able to communicate well with patients, families, physicians and other staff. Responsibilities include but are not limited to developing, implementing, and evaluating individual exercise programs and care plans in consideration of physician orders, medical history, patient limitations and patient goals. Assessing cardiovascular and metabolic effects of exercise for cardiac and peripheral vascular disease patients while recommending any adjustments and modifications in the exercise prescription. Help patients execute and accomplish individual plan/exercise prescriptions by instructing, encouraging, and assisting patients in performing the physical activities prescribed by staff. Reassess and document patients thirty (30) day progress reports in a timely manner successfully meeting time requirement as prescribed by Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Ability to be innovative in creating and teaching educational material for patients and their families. Supervise exercise physiologist interns. Conduct initial assessments and orientation of new participants. Job requires constant moving to show patients how to exercise. Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending yearly educational workshops, department in-services, staff education competencies and continuing education opportunities. The position requires critical thinking skills, effective communication skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to quickly take appropriate actions.
