GENERAL FUNCTION

Under the direction of the Director of Healthy Living, the Wellness Staff will be responsible for encouraging, instructing, and serving as a resource for our membership in sound exercise principles; design and prescribe appropriate individual exercise programs; develop positive relationships with members; and maintain a clean, inviting exercises environment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Effective inter-personal interaction with members in the wellness center successfully cultivating and developing relations profitable to both the member and the YMCA Instruct members in strength, cardiovascular, and flexibility training principles, procedures, and exercise techniques Teach members the proper and preferred used of all strength and cardiovascular equipment Provide individual supervision and reinforcement to members during training sessions Assume responsibility for maintaining a neat, clean, and pleasant environment in the wellness center Assume other duties as assigned by the

Requirements:

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE

Must be 18 years of age Knowledge of exercise science principles and current practices (college degree, national certification, and/or work experience preferred) Obtain CPR/First Aid Certifications

PHYSICAL ABILITIES

May be required to stand for extended periods of time while demonstrating manual dexterity in order to accurately work on the telephone, computer keyboard, and other equipment Must posses auditory, verbal, and visual capabilities to adequately communicate via telephone and in person
