SCOPE OF WORK

The Fitness Technician will assist in the planning and implementation of a community-based approach to fitness and diabetes prevention; educate individuals in living a more active lifestyle, in order to prevent diabetes and its complications.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintain records of client referrals, encounter forms, exercise plans, call log, client follow-up and submit timely monthly reports as required. Maintaining safe exercise environment; enforce safety rules for equipment usage in accordance with fitness center policy and procedure. Maintain fitness equipment and the facilities in clean working order. Report needed maintenance on all fitness equipment; submit work orders for maintenance and IT Department. Assist in developing individual or group fitness plans for clients with special needs. Provide instruction on low or high impact aerobics and anaerobic exercises during community exercise classes in Standing Rock Districts. Conduct blood glucose and blood pressure checks during program outreach activities, or health screening events. Coordinate activities with the Diabetes Team, other programs, and schools. Perform other tasks associated within the Scope of Work of the Standing Rock Diabetes Project Grant goals and objectives.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

2-Year degree in Physical Education, Health Education, Nursing, or similar area Valid driver's license

SHIFT:

10:30am - 7:00pm

TESTING AND BACKGROUND REQUIREMENTS

Subject to pre-employment, post-accident, and reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol testing. Tribal, State, and Federal background investigation and MVR screening required.
