Job Description
Summary The Exercise Specialist works with the registered nurse to conduct the Outpatient Cardiac Rehabilitation Program. Treatment and education is provided in the areas of deficit to assist patients in safely regaining functional abilities and adopting a heart-healthy lifestyle. The Exercise Specialist also conducts/supervises Cardiac and Pulmonary Maintenance Exercise Program classes. Education Four years of formal training or education beyond the high school level (e.g., Bachelors Degree). Certification, Registration & Licensure Certification required: Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification, or equivalent course credentialed by American Heart Association. Experience One year of experience as an Exercise Specialist preferred. Must possess knowledge of growth and development across the lifespan. Responsibilities Completes Cardiac Rehabilitation Program evaluations. Documents patient data. Demonstrates group exercise leadership skills. Provides group and individual exercise education. The employee is occasionally exposed to bloodborne pathogens, bodily fluids, electrical hazards - shock, slippery surfaces, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
