Summary:
Is responsible for the operation and supervision of nuclear and regular stress testing in cardiology practice Job Duties and Responsibilities
PATIENT CARE
Reviews test procedure with patient, explaining in detail what they can expect prior to testing and obtains consent for testing Reviews medication list with patients and ensures patient is holding medications as instructed Performs a physical assessment of patient prior to test including auscultation of lungs, heart and carotid arteries, check for edema and distal pulses of the extremities Places the EKG tabs on patient for monitoring during the stress test Constantly monitors the EKG monitor for physiological or electrocardiographic changes, patient safety, test endurance Is required to make critical decisions during the course of a test, to determine when to inject, when to stop a test and when to continue
PATIENT RESPONSE
understands significance of EKG's and alerts other team members to unexpected changes supports multidisciplinary team by assuming EKG monitoring activity for patients documents activities/ and patient's response to activities in medical record Reports results of stress test including changes in heart rate, blood pressure, symptoms, exercise capacity and EKG changes in the EMR for physician review and final interpretation Responds to emergency situations to deliver appropriate care: in the event of a code each nurse in the lab has a role and responsibility in assisting a patient in distress or under a "code blue" Reviews schedules daily, prepares charts for testing, ensures accurate orders are written and all directives are given to patient Stocks the lab to ensure all products and safety equipment is in the correct location and on hand daily; performs quality controls on defibrillators and glucometers Understand all aspects of nuclear imaging in regards to types of tests administered and instructions and protocols for administering such Qualifications
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
BS in Exercise Science; BLS certification Basic EKG interpretation
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
2 -3 years of cardiac patient care experience Ability to lift 20 lbs.
Pay Range:
$26.20 - $38.80 Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates.
