As an Exercise Physiologist, you will develop individualized exercise prescriptions and oversee exercise progression for patients with cardiovascular disease in a cardiac rehabilitation setting. You will provide direct patient care to individuals recovering from open-heart surgery and percutaneous coronary interventions, delivering high-quality support across both acute and outpatient phases of recovery. In this role, you will collaborate within a multi-site organization to care for complex patients who have undergone advanced cardiac procedures, ensuring safe and effective rehabilitation. This is a regular PRN position, with caregivers working shifts varying between 6:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Caregivers in this role will cover both Mercy and North Canton locations. A caregiver who excels in this role will: Provide patient testing before and after rehabilitation, including strength, body composition, flexibility, balance and endurance. Provide exercise prescriptions for patients utilizing test data, patient status and current medication regimen. Update exercise prescriptions according to patient response. Implement concepts of cardiac secondary prevention. Recognize contraindications to exercise and abnormal patient responses to exercise. Appropriately respond to all situations including exercise cessation and referral to medical professionals. Provide exercise information to patients, peers and the community through public speaking and education classes. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Bachelor's or Master's degree in exercise-related field Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Background in Cardiac Rehabilitation Experience with Inpatient Care (Post-Surgery Patients, Monitoring Vitals, etc.) Working Knowledge of EKG Rhythms Understanding of Telemetry Monitoring (Tele)
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to stand/walk for long periods of time and ability to help patients stand and walk. Will require some lifting, bending, twisting of upper extremity to help limited patients. Must be able to adapt to different room temperatures in exercise.
