Primary Purpose :
The Exercise Physiologist I is responsible for implementing and constructing exercise prescriptions for low to moderate risk patients. This individual will be knowledgeable of how to measure vitals during exercise, provide exercise-related education, monitor patient performance and provide modifications for various health conditions or injury statues. This role serves ARUP employees, spouses, and dependents, and contributes to a culture of safety, evidence-based practice, and sustainable performance across the organization.

Essential Functions :
Conducts comprehensive and general fitness and movement assessments to identify individual needs, goals, and health considerations. Designs and implements personalized exercise programs for low to moderate risk patients tailored to their abilities, medical history, and health objectives. Educates patients on proper exercise techniques, biomechanics, and safe movement execution. Monitor progress and modify programming to optimize outcomes, reduce injury risk, and improve proprioception. Leads small-group exercise sessions and functional movement programs. Provides outreach and education to departments to support flexibility, mobility, strength and stability. Develops exercise-based resources such as, but not limited to•workout of the week, exercise class videos, movement demonstration videos, and articles. Supports Exercise Physiologist II with annual Security Fitness assessments. Supports equipment selection, maintenance, and safety for on-campus fitness facilities. Maintains cleanliness and safety of all ARUP fitness facilities daily. Supports quarterly audits of ARUP fitness facilities to ensure compliance with safety, quality, and maintenance standards. Supports innovation and enhancement of exercise programming, testing methods, online resource library, and operational procedures. Demonstrates knowledge of musculoskeletal injury prevention, emergency response procedures, and professional standards of practice. Collaborates with the Wellness Supervisor for case supervision and referral support. Assists with additional Health and Wellness initiatives and programming as needed. Performs other duties as assigned.
Physical and Other Requirements :
Stooping:
Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist.
Reaching:
Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
Mobility:
The person in this position needs to occasionally move between work sites and inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
Communicate:
Frequently and effectively communicate with others.
PPE:
Biohazard laboratory environment that requires use of personal protective equipment in accordance with CDC and OSHA regulations and company policies.
ARUP Policies and Procedures:
To conduct self in compliance with all ARUP Policies and Procedures.
Medium Work:
Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Fine Motor Control:
Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand as in handling.
