Responsibilities:

The Wellness Instructor supports the Company Wellness Program by ensuring that quality wellness and fitness instruction and care is provided for residents within Wellness Facilities under Powerback management. The Wellness instructor is responsible for planning, organizing, and leading wellness based group fitness classes, in a safe and effective manner.

RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES

Provides class instruction based on the schedule delivered by the DOR, Wellness Coordinator or acting Wellness Liaison. Receives feedback from clinical staff regarding residents participating in the group and the class curriculum. Observes residents and provides feedback to the supervisor or clinical staff about any changes in status or concerns. Ensures that cardiovascular and strength training equipment used in classes are appropriate based on class limitations and risk factors. Recommends acquisition of exercise equipment and aerobic music to support new programs and activities to Wellness Coordinator. Implements health and wellness programs that reflect the Powerback Rehabilitation concepts and practices in response to participants' needs. Provides 1:1 personalized fitness services under the direction of a qualified individual (therapist, assistant, exercise physiologist, wellness coordinator). Ensures that cardiovascular and strength training equipment is appropriate to the population served and maintained in accordance with manufacturer specifications; coordinates repair (as needed) and regular preventive maintenance of all exercise equipment. Establishes procedures to evaluate programs and activities from revenue, expense, and participant satisfaction perspectives. Develops, promulgates, and implements a safety plan for wellness area activities, including procedures to follow in the event of an emergency. Ensures that cost-effective procedures are in place to provide the highest level of programming and safety for employees, residents, guests and visitors. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

One to three (3) years of documented experience as a Fitness Instructor, preferably in a senior living retirement community, health & fitness center. Experience with older adult group fitness classes. Must possess a minimum of high school diploma or equivalent.

Posted Salary Range:

USD $18.00 - USD $25.00 /Hr.
