Job Description

Job Requirements A Day in the Life of a Exercise Physiologist The Exercise Physiologist will perform patient care, education, and documentation. This position is responsible for overseeing the safety of the rehabilitation program's exercise components such as equipment orientation and exercise prescription and instruction. What You Will Be Doing:
Completes intake assessments for new patients. Coordinates with a multidisciplinary team on evaluation of new patients to determine treatment and exercise program needs as well as safe, continuous, adaptable and beneficial treatment of existing patients. Creates individualized treatment plans, ensures treatment plans are up to date throughout program, and monitors outcomes and discharge plans on cardiac and pulmonary rehab patients. Provides education to patients and family members on diagnosis, individual risk factors, lifestyle modifications, and symptom monitoring. Performs functional assessments, body composition analysis, and assessment of lower extremity abilities. Measures and monitors patient vital signs such as heart rate and rhythm, blood pressure, and oxygen levels. Provides clinical oversight of exercise for participants at all risk levels; including equipment orientation, exercise prescription, and exercise instruction. Documents patient care in electronic health record. Performs nicotine cessation counseling on an individual inpatient basis and in a group setting as part of the Commit to Quit program. Supports local chapter of Mended Hearts by identifying and coordinating appropriate patient visits. Ensures calibration and maintenance of exercise and testing equipment Participates in the development/implementation and revision of quality control, process improvement, and quality management.
