- Full-time Lighthouse Mental Health Services is seeking a compassionate and experienced Child Therapist to join our growing team in Madison, Alabama.
We are hiring for a full-time position with the following schedule options: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM OR Monday-Thursday, 8:00 AM-6:00 PM and Friday, 8:00 AM-12:00 PM Lighthouse Mental Health Services opened in 2025 and serves Madison, Alabama, and the surrounding communities. While we are primarily focused on ABA therapy and mental health services. We are deeply committed to helping children, adolescents, and families achieve meaningful growth and improved well-being. Position Overview The Child Therapist is responsible for providing diagnostic assessments, individual therapy, family counseling, and support services to children and adolescents experiencing emotional, behavioral, developmental, and mental health challenges. The therapist will collaborate with parents, guardians, schools, healthcare providers, and community resources to ensure comprehensive care and positive treatment outcomes.
Responsibilities Conduct diagnostic assessments and provide evidence-based therapy services for children and adolescents. Develop individualized treatment plans based on clinical assessment and diagnosis. Provide individual, family, and parent-focused counseling services as appropriate. Collaborate with parents, guardians, caregivers, schools, and other support systems to promote treatment success. Refer clients to appropriate community resources, specialists, or additional services when needed. Serve as an advocate for clients and families to coordinate care and address crises or urgent concerns. Maintain timely and accurate documentation, including assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries. Schedule and conduct follow-up appointments according to clinical need. Record services accurately for billing purposes and maintain compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. Submit billing documentation promptly and accurately. Build and maintain positive therapeutic relationships with clients and families. Participate in team collaboration and contribute ideas that enhance clinical quality and organizational effectiveness. Requirements & Qualifications Education & Licensure Master's degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related behavioral health field. Current Alabama licensure as an LPC, LMFT, LICSW, or equivalent independent mental health license. Current credentialing with at least one major insurance provider (e.g., BCBS, UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, etc.) preferred. Experience Minimum of one year of clinical experience providing psychotherapy services. Experience working with children, adolescents, and families. Knowledge of child development, behavioral health disorders, and evidence-based therapeutic interventions. Ability to work independently while maintaining strong communication and collaboration skills. Strong written and verbal communication abilities. Experience coordinating care with schools, healthcare providers, and community resources is preferred.
