School-Based Mental Health Therapist (K-8) Beacon Health AZ Phoenix, AZ Job Details Part-time | Full-time | Contract $35 - $55 an hour 13 hours ago Qualifications School experience Spanish Teamwork English Working with students Cross-functional communication Full Job Description About Beacon Beacon partners with schools to expand access to high-quality behavioral health services for students. We bring mental health support directly into K-8 school communities, helping students build emotional resilience, strengthen coping skills, and succeed academically and socially. We are seeking a licensed Mental Health Therapist (1099 Contractor) to provide school-based services in a K-8 setting in Phoenix, AZ. Position Overview This is a 1099 independent contractor role providing therapy services to students during the school day. The therapist will work on-site in a partner school and collaborate closely with school staff, families, and Beacon's clinical team. This role is ideal for a clinician who wants flexibility in their work structure while maintaining consistent school-based hours and a steady caseload. Responsibilities Provide individual and small-group therapy to K-8 students Conduct clinical assessments and develop treatment plans Deliver evidence-based interventions for children and adolescents Support students with: Anxiety and stress Emotional regulation Behavioral challenges Peer and social difficulties Family transitions Grief and trauma-related needs Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and school leadership Participate in student support meetings and care coordination Communicate progress updates with appropriate stakeholders Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation Coordinate care with Beacon's clinical team as needed
Qualifications Required:
Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Marriage & Family Therapy, or related field Active Arizona license (LCSW, LMSW, LPC, LAC, LMFT, or equivalent) Experience working with children and/or adolescents Strong ability to work independently in a school setting Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Preferred:
School-based or pediatric behavioral health experience Trauma-informed care experience Experience working in diverse school communities Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus Schedule & Structure Monday-Friday during school hours On-site at a K-8 school in Phoenix Consistent school-year schedule 1099 independent contractor role Flexible professional autonomy within school-based structure Why This Role?
