Pay Range :
This position may be filled at one of two levels: Mental Health Therapist I is between $70,304
  • $89,434.15 per year; and Mental Health Therapist II is between: $77,112
  • $98,416.
62 per year. Fred Finch Youth & Family Services partners with individuals and communities to provide culturally responsive services that cultivate mental and physical resilience and wellness. The Fred Finch CCTAY program provides comprehensive services for young adults or Transition Aged Youth (TAY) delivered by a team comprised of compassionate, committed multidisciplinary staff. The program's primary goals are to assist young adults in achieving their recovery-oriented goals, help them obtain and stabilize in housing, and build self-sufficiency skills to help them function effectively in their homes and communities. In line with the Fred Finch core values of respect, compassion, and hope, CCTAY staff treats each participant with dignity, compassion, mutual respect, and unconditional high regard. The CCTAY program draws from evidence-based and evidence-informed best practices to provide comprehensive, individualized services: The Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) model informs how the multidisciplinary team operates and functions, while the Transition to Independence (TIP) model and Motivational Interviewing informs our interventions and treatment planning process. Individually designed services support participants to gain the skills, knowledge, and abilities to move successfully into adult life. Through their engagement in program services, participants learn to imagine and develop aspirations for the future. Our staff work with participants to establish a collaborative relationship and develop a service plan that centers around demonstrated needs, motivation, and attainable life goals. Staff provides a wide variety of supportive services designed to promote participant stability in their own community: mental health services; medication support; vocational/employment support and skills building; and educational and health linkages are all important elements of a comprehensive treatment.
What You Will Do:
Under administrative and clinical supervision (Mental Health Therapist I) or consultation and direction (Mental Health Therapist II), provides behavioral health clinical intervention and recovery services to assigned participants and their families; develops treatment plans and performs individual, group, and family therapy, routine and emergency assessment, crisis intervention, and related treatment services; manages an assigned caseload of children, youth and/or young adult participants; provides consultation to other staff, programs, and agencies related to treatment needs and plans; and performs related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education:
Mental Health Therapist I-II:
: Master's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in social work, psychology, counseling, marriage and family therapy, or a related field; and
Mental Health Therapist I :
One (1) year of internship experience providing mental health services in a behavioral health, clinic, residential, school-based, or community-based setting for children, youth, or young adults.
Mental Health Therapist II :
Two (2) years of post-master's experience providing professional mental health services in a behavioral health, clinic, residential, school-based, or community-based setting for children, youth, or young adults.
Licenses and Certifications:
Possession of a valid California Driver's License, a satisfactory driving record, and a properly registered and insured vehicle, to be maintained throughout employment.
Mental Health Therapist I :
Possession of a valid registration as an Associate Clinical Social Worker (ACSW), Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT) or Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC) issued by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS), to be maintained throughout employment. Some programs may consider candidates who are able to obtain registered status within the first six (6) months after hire
Mental Health Therapist II :

Qualifications:
Required M.A. Degree in Social Work or Counseling from an accredited college or university. Registered intern or associate with the Board of Behavioral Sciences.   • with relevant experience with target population eligible in San Diego/Alameda/San Mateo Counties (If working in a program licensed by Community Care Licensing must meet minimum training and experience requirements).

certification. Demonstrated understanding of the developmental milestones of children, youth, or young adults to provide to provide care, treatment and services. Supervised experience in providing counseling and/or psychotherapy services Demonstrated knowledge in the areas of diagnostic assessment, individual/family/group behavioral treatment methods for target population of program. Experience with or knowledge of designing, supervising, monitoring, changing, and discontinuing individualized behavioral interventions for staff delivering behavioral services (e.g., TBS). Utilizes de-escalation techniques, including but not limited to: attentiveness to potential triggers/stressors and early indicators of distress; motivational interviewing; reflective listening; providing responses that rely on engagement and empathy; modeling composure through use of calm voice and neutral facial expressions; remaining self-aware of verbal and non-verbal communication, demonstrated ability to adjust verbal and non-verbal communication, prompting for use of known coping skills; etc., to defuse distress and ensure safety in a manner that aligns with the trauma informed care model. Demonstrated cultural responsiveness in working with diverse families and communities. Clean driving record; current CA Driver's License or ability to obtain within 10 days after hired. Must have access to dependable transportation; personal car insurance meeting minimum liability coverage required if position requires driving for work or transporting participants. Basic computer and keyboarding competence with the ability to use Microsoft Office Suite and/or competency with electronic clinical documentation systems. Preferred One (1) year post-graduate school experience with program target population (

intellectually disabled, homeless, teens or young adults, seriously emotionally disturbed). One (1) year experience with program modality (example: school-based, residential, mobile/community-based, assertive community treatment, wraparound, etc.) Demonstrated ability to assess, triage and organize work. Applies a strength-based, culturally responsive, trauma-informed approach to supervision, participant and community service. Experience with relevant evidence-based practices (e.g., CBT, DBT, trauma
  • informed interventions). Exhibits strong behavioral, crisis management and family/individual/group therapy skills. Fluency in prevailing language(s) of the community. (
