Position Summary At Play Day Pediatric Therapy, we believe meaningful behavior change happens through connection, trust, and joyful learning. We are seeking a passionate Mid-Level Learning and Behavior Specialist who brings both strong ABA clinical skills and a genuine heart for supporting children and families. This position is ideal for someone who understands that behavior is communication, values neurodiversity-affirming practices, and is committed to helping children build social-emotional skills, independence, confidence, and meaningful relationships. The Mid-Level Learning and Behavior Specialist will provide direct intervention, supervise and mentor Play and Behavior Coaches, collaborate with families and team members, support skill acquisition and behavior reduction goals, and help create inclusive, engaging learning experiences for children across home, school, and community settings. What You'll Do Direct Client Services Implement individualized therapy programs using evidence-based ABA strategies. Support development of communication, emotional regulation, executive functioning, social skills, play skills, adaptive living skills, and independence. Teach replacement skills that help learners successfully navigate everyday environments. Collect accurate data and monitor client progress. Utilize naturalistic, child-centered teaching strategies throuout therapy. Support learners in accessing inclusive environments and meaningful peer interactions. Collaborate with supervising BCBAs to ensure high-quality treatment implementation and meaningful outcomes. Social-Emotional Development Help children identify, understand, and express emotions appropriately. Teach perspective-taking, flexibility, coping skills, problem-solving, self-advocacy, and resilience. Use developmentally appropriate social-emotional learning strategies to support growth. Foster confidence and a growth mindset in learners through strengths-based approaches. Support children in building authentic friendships and positive social connections. Create opportunities for learners to develop independence, self-awareness, and emotional regulation skills. Leadership & Team Development As a Mid-Level Learning and Behavior Specialist, you will play an important role in developing and supporting our Play and Behavior Coaches.
Responsibilities include:
Provide day-to-day guidance, coaching, and support to Play and Behavior Coaches. Mentor team members in implementing behavior support strategies, social-emotional learning opportunities, and relationship-based interventions. Support onboarding and training of new staff members. Model effective teaching, behavior support, and play-based intervention strategies. Monitor treatment integrity and provide feedback to ensure high-quality services. Collaborate with supervising BCBAs to identify team strengths, growth opportunities, and professional development needs. Foster a positive, supportive team culture that prioritizes collaboration, learning, and clinical excellence. Help the team develop confidence in managing challenging situations while maintaining compassion, professionalism, and respect for learners. Model Playday's values of connection, flexibility, inclusion, curiosity, and lifelong learning. Family Collaboration Partner with caregivers to identify meaningful goals and priorities. Provide parent coaching and practical strategies that can be implemented in daily routines. Maintain compassionate, professional communication with families. Celebrate progress while helping families navigate challenges with empathy and support. Support families in generalizing skills across home, school, and community environments. Team Collaboration Work closely with BCBAs, therapists, educators, and other team members. Participate in team meetings, trainings, and case consultations. Contribute ideas that improve programming, client outcomes, and overall clinic culture. Support interdisciplinary collaboration to ensure comprehensive care for learners. Documentation & Professional Responsibilities Complete session notes, data collection, and required documentation accurately and on time. Follow all ethical, professional, and regulatory standards. Maintain client confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions. Pursue ongoing learning and professional development. Assist with maintaining high standards of clinical quality and service delivery. Required Qualifications Minimum 2 years of experience providing ABA services. Experience implementing behavior intervention plans and skill acquisition programs. Strong understanding of behavior analytic principles and data collection procedures. Experience working with children with autism and other developmental differences. Experience mentoring, training, or providing leadership to direct-service staff. Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively with families and interdisciplinary teams. Preferred Qualifications RBT certification and Bachelor's degree in psychology, education, behavior analysis, child development, or a related field. Experience supporting social-emotional learning and emotional regulation. Experience in school, clinic, or community-based settings. Experience supporting inclusion and peer engagement opportunities. Coursework or training related to trauma-informed care, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), executive functioning, social thinking, or developmental approaches.
