We serve over 240 students in grades K-8 with art, music, drama, storytelling, poetry, and crafts, woven throughout the curriculum. Our students learn with their heads, hearts, and hands, building on a foundation of creativity that grows with the child to balance imagination, critical thinking and academic excellence. The School Therapist will provide school based mental health services for students with special needs and their families; will provide consultation and training to teachers, paraprofessionals and parents; and attend IEP meetings where mental health services are to be discussed. Mental health services may be provided at school sites and, on occasion, in student homes or other community settings. The School Therapist will also counsel students who do not have IEPs, run small groups that will focus on SEL topics, train teachers and paraprofessionals, and work with families. Some Parent Education Nights revolving around a variety of topics will be required. Therapist will be required to work in the classroom setting, teach classes surrounding mental health topics, or work with small groups inside or outside of the classroom. The School Therapist provides mental health services, including counseling, individual and group counseling, collaboration with families, and working with/referral to outside agencies as appropriate. Provides assistance with program planning, feedback, student supervision, mentoring, record keeping, and writing reports. The School Therapist influences the development of a safe, successful learning environment and positive school culture by partnering with teachers, administrators, and school staff. Requirements /
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
Licensed or license eligible in the state of California as Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT), Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) or Licensed Educational Psychologist (LEP). Interns Welcome A minimum of two years of job related experience within a specialized field with increasing levels of responsibility preferred, or any combination of training, experience and/or education equivalent to a Master's degree in psychology, mental health counseling, or social work. Ability to work effectively in a multi-ethnic community. Ability to conduct oneself in a manner to which reflects a positive emphasis on diversity, equity, and inclusion. Valid California Driver's License.
