Job Description

Therapist Position Summary South County Mental Health Center, Inc. is seeking a compassionate and skilled Therapist to provide individual, family, and group therapy services to adults, children, and families experiencing behavioral health and co-occurring substance use disorders. This position plays a critical role in assessing client needs, developing treatment plans, supporting recovery, and promoting positive clinical outcomes in an outpatient setting. About Us South County Mental Health Center, Inc. is a private, non-profit, Joint Commission-accredited behavioral healthcare provider serving Southeast Palm Beach County. We are dedicated to delivering compassionate, high-quality mental health services to individuals and families in our community. Minimum Qualifications Master's Degree (MA/MS) in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or a related field Minimum one (1) year of therapy experience working with chronically mentally ill or dually diagnosed populations Knowledge of behavioral health treatment principles and best practices Strong clinical assessment, treatment planning, and documentation skills CPR Certification or ability to obtain upon hire Successful completion of required background screening
Preferred Qualifications:
Florida licensure as an LMHC, LMFT, or LCSW Three (3)+ years of experience working with adult and child/adolescent populations Two (2)+ years of experience treating co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders Experience utilizing Trauma-Informed Care and Recovery-Oriented Systems of Care principles Duties and Responsibilities Client Care & Therapeutic Services Provide individual, family, and group therapy services to in/outpatient clients Conduct clinical assessments and psychosocial evaluations as required Evaluate client and family needs to identify appropriate treatment interventions Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans and integrated discharge plans Review treatment plans every six months or as clinically indicated (every 30 days for active substance use treatment episodes) Participate in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings and assigned workgroups Documentation & Record Keeping Maintain accurate, timely, and complete clinical records Document all client contacts, services, and interventions within 48 hours of service delivery Ensure documentation complies with agency, funding source, and regulatory requirements Utilize the electronic medical record system effectively and accurately Professional Development & Training Attend staff development workshops, clinical trainings, and in-service programs Maintain knowledge of current behavioral health treatment practices and DSM diagnostic criteria Participate in ongoing professional development activities Additional Duties Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned Support agency initiatives related to quality improvement and client care excellence Core Competencies Advanced knowledge of chronic mental illness and co-occurring disorders Understanding of child, adolescent, and adult development Knowledge of Trauma-Informed Care, Recovery-Oriented Systems of Care, and suicide risk assessment principles Strong clinical decision-making and problem-solving skills Excellent written and verbal communication abilities Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team Knowledge of Florida behavioral health regulations and best practices Physical Demands Routine sitting, computer use, and documentation activities Frequent face-to-face interaction with clients and families Ability to perform duties in a clinical outpatient setting Working Conditions Professional outpatient behavioral health environment Frequent interaction with individuals experiencing mental health and substance use challenges Standard office and clinical setting Performance Standards Performance will be evaluated based on: Quality and effectiveness of therapeutic interventions Timeliness and accuracy of clinical documentation Client engagement and treatment outcomes Compliance with agency policies, procedures, and regulatory standards Participation in multidisciplinary treatment planning and team collaboration
