Therapist Job Description Outpatient Strive Mental Health:
Strive Mental Health is an outpatient behavioral health clinic dedicated to providing compassionate mental health and addiction services. Strive Mental Health has created an environment that nurtures the child, affirms the adolescent, and empowers the adult and family. We provide comprehensive care and a holistic approach to mental health and addiction treatment. Mental Health and addiction services include psychiatry, medication management, and counseling. Strive Mental Health provides services for ages six through adulthood. The staff is here to support you through your difficult times. We care about your mental health and addictions.
Position Overview:
Strive Mental Health offers child and adult therapist positions. This is a workplace that takes your career to the next level. You will receive the necessary training to function in an outpatient mental health treatment. The Mental Health Therapist completes an evidenced based intake with a Biopsychosocial Assessment on each new client. The therapist also completes a comprehensive treatment plan, which will be a road map to finding the best possible course for treatment using evidence-based theories. The therapist will engage the individual and family in session as needed. When it is necessary, the therapist will handle any crisis that arrives and find the best course of action to help the patient work through the crisis. This might include initiating a "Baker Act."
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Conduct comprehensive Biopsychosocial Assessments on each new client, providing a mental health and/or substance abuse diagnosis.
  • Provide ongoing individual mental health counseling; providing appropriate evidence based therapeutic interventions and methods to assist clients in reaching their goals.
  • Assist in crisis intervention services and collaborate with local agencies to provide appropriate referrals.
  • Maintain professional standards through compliance with quality assurance policies/procedures as well as applicable regulations and corporate policies.
  • Create a treatment plan with the client.
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary team staffing, individual or group supervision and case consultation.
  • Refer client to continuity of care providers as needed.
  • Assess for acute S/H/I as needed and maintain No Harm plans if indicated.
  • Document client progress in individual and family therapy.
  • Ensure all assigned client documentation is entered in electronic record as required in timely manner including individual and family counseling sessions and crisis interventions.
  • Assist in discharge planning as required.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Education / Experience
/ Qualifications
  • Licensed or a registered intern under FS chapter 491 as MHC or CSW with at least one year experience working with a marginalized or challenged population.
  • One or more years of experience assessing, diagnosing, and treating substance use disorders. Practicum experience can be used.
  • One or more years of experience performing Biopsychosocial assessments, treatment planning and maintaining progress notes. Practicum experience can be used.
  • Knowledge of the Trauma Informed Care model is helpful. You will be asked to be trained in this model if you have no experience.
  • Experience in providing crisis intervention services and individual and family sessions.
  • Knowledge of BA52 statute and process. This will be taught to you if you are not knowledgeable.
  • Understanding of various levels of care in community mental health including local resources.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with staff, clients, family members, and employers as needed.
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries and abide by your professional organization's ethics code.
  • Possess a passion for social justice, dignity of a person, and competency. This includes being open to treating various marginalized populations.
  • Understand diversity and inclusion in your treatment of patients.
  • Comfortable in using computers, running reports, and learning new software.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and electronic client records.
  • Must be able to work Monday through Thursday.
  • Must have a valid driver's license, clean driving record, and reliable transportation.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Must be able to be certified in CPR and First Aid.
  • Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak English and Spanish proficiently is helpful if you are qualified.

    Supervision for MHC/MFT will be provided on site. We will coordinate with a CSW applicate for supervision.
