Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Intern to join our team. This paid internship provides an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in gaining hands-on experience in mental health services, supporting clients, and developing professional skills within a supportive environment. The role offers exposure to various therapeutic approaches and the chance to work alongside licensed mental health professionals. Ideal candidates are motivated to learn, empathetic, and eager to contribute to improving mental health and well-being. Responsibilities Assist licensed mental health professionals in conducting client assessments and intake procedures Support clients through active listening and empathetic engagement during therapy sessions Participate in team meetings, case discussions, and treatment planning sessions Help organize therapeutic activities, including art therapy sessions when applicable Maintain confidential client records in accordance with privacy regulations Conduct research on topics such as psychopharmacology and gender issues counseling to support ongoing treatment strategies Engage in supervised training sessions to develop clinical skills and knowledge of mental health practices Contribute to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for clients from diverse backgrounds Skills Master's degree required (must be fully graduated from an accredited graduate program). Basic understanding of art therapy techniques and their application in mental health treatment Knowledge of psychopharmacology principles is a plus, with willingness to learn more about medication management Familiarity with gender issues counseling and sensitivity toward gender diversity issues Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build rapport with clients Empathy, patience, and active listening abilities essential for supporting clients effectively Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in all interactions Eagerness to learn new therapeutic methods and collaborate within a multidisciplinary team This internship offers valuable experience for those pursuing careers in psychology, social work, counseling, or related fields. Candidates should demonstrate a genuine interest in mental health advocacy and possess a proactive attitude toward professional growth.
