POSITION OBJECTIVE
Under the direction of the Mental Health Program Director, the Therapist is responsible for providing therapy to abused and neglected children in a Children's Advocacy Center setting. The Therapist will conduct psychosocial evaluations and assessments of client and family needs, develop individualized client treatment plans and develop/coordinate discharge planning. The Therapist will provide clinical therapy for clients and families in relation to client/family psychosocial needs. The Therapist will consistently complete accurate, concise, legible documentation in a timely manner in client records in accordance with Kids House guidelines. In addition, the Therapist will link clients with appropriate community resources and make referrals for needed services. This position operates in an environment that is flexible, innovative and supportive. It also offers ongoing training opportunities in evidence-based clinical practices and treating childhood trauma.

POSITION TYPE
Full time preferred but will consider part-time or contract candidates. Hours can be flexible.
REQUIREMENTS
Qualified candidates must have a Master's Degree in a mental health-related field, and must be Licensed, License-eligible or a Registered Intern . Specialized training in child abuse and/or family trauma is strongly preferred. Excellent organization and communication skills. Ability to work with other professionals and non-professionals. The ideal candidate must be highly sensitive to the needs and welfare of children, highly self-motivated, able to work independently, and willing to work flexible hours to meet the needs of clients. Must pass a background screening and drug test.
Note:
extensive training in trauma and evidence-based clinical practices is required and provided to successful candidates.
Other Quality Ranking Factors:
Ability to communicate effectively with children and adolescents, ranging in age from infants to 17 years of age. Academic training or practical experience in and knowledge of developmental stages of children and the dynamics and effects of child abuse. Disposition toward multi-disciplinary team approach to the investigation and prosecution of child abuse cases. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Knowledge and use of appropriate Professional Ethics and Standards. Responsibilities and Duties include, but are not limited to: Provide ongoing counseling/therapy as appropriate which may include individual, group, and/or family therapy. Interview client/family and continually assess social and emotional functioning and client/family adjustment to illness/injury/problem. Identify and plan for treatment of current or potential adjustment difficulties. Identify cultural, socioeconomic, religious, and other factors that may impact treatment. Collect, assess, and interpret data reflective of the client's status and identify each client's needs relative to the client's age and developmental level. Use information attained in a psychosocial assessment and provided by other members of the CAC Team to develop a treatment plan specific for client/family needs. Involve client/family in the development of this treatment plan. Work with non-offending caregivers to ensure they understand childhood trauma and involve them in the therapeutic process. Participate in Treatment Team meetings and Multi-Disciplinary Staffings that affect the child/family. Provide the required written documentation of all clinical interventions. .
