Behavioral Health:
Outpatient Mental Health Programming helps individuals build life skills and well-being through behavioral health counseling, psychiatric care, and other care coordination and support services.
Immediate Supervisor:
Programs Coordinator Hours of Work:
Full-time, 40 hours/week. Participates in afterhours weekend call crisis rotation in the 830 Residential Houses at least once a month.
FLSA Classification:
Non-exempt Counselor/ Therapist Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Human Services or related field, qualifies as a Mental Health Professional (MHP). Master's Degree in Human Services or related field, qualifies as a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) preferred.
Counselor/ Therapist Skills & Knowledge:
Knowledge of various behavioral and human development theories and practices; ability to understand mental health diagnoses, treatment planning processes, and evidence-based curriculums; knowledge of local health and human services resources; knowledge of basic crisis intervention and conflict resolution techniques; basic knowledge of the DSM V & Rule 132; knowledge of family therapy, child development, foster care placements, Juvenile Justice System, and DCFS; ability to provide services in clients' homes and within the community; excellent written and oral communication skills; excellent computer skills.
Counselor/ Therapist Special Requirements:
Travels to off-site/community-based locations for direct service delivery; participates in afterhours weekend call crisis rotation in the 830 Residential Houses at least once a month.; ability to schedule evening appointments; maintains and provides proof of a valid driver's license; maintains and provides proof of personal vehicle liability insurance; at least 21 years of age; maintain First Aid & CPR certification; must complete required registry clearances and criminal fingerprint background checks. Counselor/ Therapist job duties include, but are not limited to: Intervenes and evaluates consumers, establishes preliminary diagnosis. Develops and monitors treatment plan collaboratively with consumers by defining goals, specific outcomes and time‑frames for treatment. Monitors consumer's behavior and makes detailed reports for medical necessity in regular comprehensive evaluations. Intervenes therapeutically to change attitudes, beliefs and behaviors of consumers to improve individual and family level of functioning. Provides crisis intervention to stabilize consumer's condition by utilizing short-term crisis intervention techniques and/or referral to other support services. Maintains networking and referral contacts with other human service providers both internally and externally. Carries a caseload of clients enrolled in Community Support Team services and as assigned by direct supervisor. Completes required monthly direct service hours to consumers as defined on Direct Service Requirement sheet Facilitates comprehensive consumer care by providing case management services and therapeutic intervention in community-based settings. Facilitates recreation/socialization and cultural activities for consumers which provide enjoyable outings that prepare and encourage them to engage in activities independent of the agency. Effectively teaches life-management skills to consumers and assist with the development of independent living activities, such as grocery shopping, attending appointments, social skills training, money management, and coping skills. Provides and arranges transportation services to consumers which they translate to their natural environment. Demonstrates active involvement in supervision, team meetings, and clinical staffing. Collaborate with internal and external members of the interdisciplinary team to coordinate services and ensure the client's needs are being met.
