Days Eskenazi Health serves as the public hospital division of the Health & Hospital Corporation of Marion County. Physicians provide a comprehensive range of primary and specialty care services at the 333-bed hospital and outpatient facilities both on and off of the Eskenazi Health downtown campus including at a network of Eskenazi Health Center sites located throughout Indianapolis. FLSA Status Exempt Job Role Summary The Gender Health Licensed Clinician completes program intakes/biopsychosocial evaluations (BPSE) of transgender and gender-diverse clients to develop an integrated diagnostic summary. This position provides a variety of individual therapeutic interventions and is familiar with best practices for effective psychotherapy This position has a comprehensive understanding of the risks/benefits of gender-affirming care, including hormone therapy and surgery. Essential Functions and Responsibilities Proactively contributes to Eskenazi Health's mission: Advocate, Care, Teach and Serve with special emphasis on the vulnerable populations of Marion County Models Eskenazi Health's values Completes biopsychosocial evaluation (BPSE) of gender-diverse clients to develop an integrated diagnostic summary Prepares a clinical treatment plan, reevaluating and updating at intervals determined by guidelines Evaluates readiness for gender-affirming care as needed Assesses coexisting mental health concerns and distinguishes these from gender dysphoria Assesses current psychosocial needs Assesses for co-occurring substance use Assesses patient's ability to provide informed consent and understanding of risks/benefits of gender-affirming care Helps create post-operative care plan if needed Provides care to stabilize coexisting mental health/substance use issues Identifies barriers to care and community resources, and assists in linking gender-diverse clients to appropriate resources and services Has a comprehensive understanding of the risks/benefits of gender-affirming care, including hormone therapy and surgery Communicates clearly between members of the multidisciplinary treatment team Manages a caseload of gender-diverse clients by identifying therapeutic, rehabilitative, and case management needs; engages other team members in meeting these needs as may be indicated Performs a variety of individual, family and group therapeutic interventions for gender-diverse clients as needed, and is familiar with best practices for a variety of client populations, including gender-diverse clients Completes documentation of activities and written reports in an accurate and timely manner, including letters of recommendation for gender-affirming care Continuously evaluates clients' mental status, reporting progress to the team Provides indirect service to external agencies and community through consultation and education Interprets and applies service and billing procedures according to client needs; completes billing according to guidelines for timeliness and accuracy Alters activities/behaviors to reflect and ensure adequate care which is appropriate to the age of the clients served Serves as a clinical resource for less experienced staff Job Requirements Master's degree in human service field and licensed in clinical work (LCSW, LMFT, LMHC) Minimum of 3 years' experience providing clinical mental health services State licensed for independent practice Valid Indiana driver's license Experience working with LGBTQ+ clients, and specifically gender-diverse clients, is strongly preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Understanding of and ability to implement a strengths-based, community treatment model Strong interpersonal skills with ability to be both clear and concise in written and verbal communication Advanced knowledge of gender diversity, psychiatric/addiction diagnoses, and understanding of their impact on behavior and all life domains Familiarity with and adherence to the WPATH Standards of Care Knowledge about gender-diverse identities and expressions, and the assessment and treatment of gender dysphoria Knowledge of psychotropic medications and their uses and side effects Willingness and ability to work cooperatively in a multidisciplinary team Ability to use age-appropriate communication skills Knowledge of LGBTQ+ affirming language Ability to interpret and apply complex directives/information/regulations Crisis intervention skills Leadership and team building ability Experience with clients who have substance use disorders, eating disorders, or autism spectrum disorder is encouraged Accredited by The Joint Commission and named as one of Indiana's best employers by Forbes magazine for two consecutive years and the top hospital in the state for community benefit by the Lown Institute, Eskenazi Health's programs have received national recognition while also offering new health care opportunities to the local community.
