Job Description

Children's Home Milieu Therapist Catholic Charities of Ingham, Eaton, and Clinton Counties $34/hour | Full Benefits | 3x12 Schedule (10a-10p) | On-Site About the Role Catholic Charities of Ingham, Eaton, and Clinton Counties serves vulnerable children and families with compassion, dignity, and strong clinical care. We are seeking a therapist to join our Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF), working with youth who present with Serious Emotional Disturbance (SED) and complex, often co-occurring diagnoses. Many have experienced significant trauma and multiple placements and require clinicians who are steady, thoughtful, and confident in both structured therapy and real-time clinical decision-making. This is an embedded milieu therapy role. The therapist provides individual, group, and family therapy and offers clinical leadership within the unit. You will collaborate closely with direct care staff, guide responses during challenging moments, and ensure clinical thinking informs daily interactions and crisis management. Schedule & Compensation This position follows a 3x12 schedule from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., with shift options of Sunday, Tuesday, and Wednesday or Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Compensation is $34 per hour and includes a full benefits package. This is an on-site role, and consistent presence within the program is essential. Responsibilities The therapist conducts clinical assessments and develops individualized treatment plans; provides individual, group, and family therapy; and facilitates structured therapeutic groups focused on regulation, coping skills, and resilience. The role includes leading parent support and psychoeducation groups, participating in IPOS meetings and transition planning, and contributing to multidisciplinary case reviews. The therapist provides clinical guidance during escalations, supports and coaches direct care staff in trauma-informed engagement, maintains timely documentation, and contributes to court reports and discharge planning as needed. The Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is comfortable working with youth with SED and co-occurring conditions, remains clinically grounded in high-emotion environments, values collaboration, and supports staff development. This therapist approaches behavior with insight, utilizes modern and trauma-responsive practices, and is motivated to work in a setting where presence and leadership matter. Qualifications A master's degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or a related field is required, along with current Michigan licensure (LLMSW, LMSW, LLPC, LPC, TLLP, or LLP). Experience providing therapy to children, adolescents, and families is required, and residential or behavioral health experience is preferred. Work Environment This is an active, on-site position within a residential treatment setting. The role involves direct engagement with youth in crisis, movement throughout the unit including bending, kneeling, and occasional lifting up to 30 pounds, and occasional driving during the workday. The work may include exposure to emotionally intense situations. Reasonable accommodations will be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions. If you are seeking meaningful, clinically engaging work within a mission-driven organization, we welcome your application.
