Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a passionate and energetic Experiential & Adventure Therapist to join our dynamic mental health treatment team. In this role, you will design and facilitate engaging outdoor and experiential activities that promote healing, growth, and resilience among diverse populations, including children, adolescents, and adults. Your expertise will help clients develop coping skills, build self-confidence, and foster meaningful connections through innovative therapeutic approaches. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to combine clinical skills with adventure-based therapy in a supportive environment dedicated to positive transformation. Responsibilities Develop and implement experiential therapy programs utilizing outdoor activities, adventure challenges, art therapy, dance therapy, and other innovative modalities to support mental health goals. Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including intake evaluations, diagnostic reviews using
ICD-10/ICD-9
coding systems, and clinical documentation aligned with HIPAA standards. Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions incorporating evidence-based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, behavioral therapy, applied behavior analysis (ABA), and trauma-informed care for clients with PTSD, autism spectrum disorder, developmental disabilities, or chronic pain. Provide crisis intervention and crisis management to ensure client safety during therapeutic activities or in emergency situations. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including social workers, medical professionals, special education staff, and case managers to coordinate comprehensive care plans. Maintain accurate medical records and documentation of patient progress using medical terminology and ICD coding for billing and research purposes. Engage in ongoing clinical research and data collection to evaluate program effectiveness and improve therapeutic outcomes. Experience Proven experience working with children, adolescents, or adults in outpatient or inpatient settings within behavioral health or mental health clinics. Demonstrated expertise in psychotherapy modalities such as motivational interviewing, social work practices, grief counseling, addiction counseling, psychopharmacology support, and gender issues counseling. Hands-on experience conducting diagnostic evaluations using
ICD-10/ICD-9
coding systems; familiarity with telehealth platforms is a plus. Background in crisis management, behavior management strategies, working with individuals with disabilities—including autism—and providing direct support in challenging environments. Knowledge of medical terminology related to behavioral health conditions; experience documenting clinical notes compliant with HIPAA regulations is essential. Ability to facilitate experiential activities safely while maintaining clinical integrity; familiarity with special education protocols and pediatric or gerigeriatrictrics populations is desirable.
