Job Description

Summary/Objective The Director of Behavioral Health provides leadership, consultation, and training in organizational efforts to design and implement care programs throughout appropriate sites. Identifies, triages and manages patients with medical and behavioral health problems within the primary care setting. In addition, the Director of Behavioral Health provides skill training through psychoeducation and patient education strategies and develops specific behavioral change plans for patients and behavioral health protocols for target populations. The role is typically housed in the PCSG's Thomasville location, however, travel to other PCSG is required when needed. A remote work environment is also available. Essential Functions 1. Provides psychological assessment and treatment services to children and adolescents presenting with a wide range of development, emotional and behavioral difficulties. 2. Assists primary health care providers in recognizing and treating mental disorders and psycho-social problems. 3. Consult with medical providers to develop assessment and treatment protocols as well as designing programs for providers. 4. Provide leadership and direct supervision of Behavioral Health providers to include doctoral-level psychologists, masters-level social workers, and/or other behavioral health therapists. 5. Design and implement formal training programs relative to specific topics on integrated care for primary care and behavioral health providers. 6. Designs and implements formal training programs relative to Standards of Practice and Treatment Protocols for behavioral health personnel. 7. Assesses the clinical status of patients referred by primary care providers through brief consultative contacts. 8. Works with the primary care team to efficiently and effectively treat and manage patients with behavioral, emotional, and/or medical problems. 9. Collaborates with primary care providers to refer cases to mental health specialists as appropriate. 10. Assists in the detection of at-risk patients and development of plans to prevent further psychological or physical deterioration. 11. Assists in preventing relapse or morbidity in conditions that tend to recur over time. 12. Evaluates patient care plans with primary care team. 13. Utilization of EMR system for documentation and communication. 14. Teaches patients, families and staff about care, prevention and treatment enhancement techniques. 15. Oversees the site's behavioral health program, identifying problems related to patient services and making recommendations for improvement. 16. Attends and participates in meetings and quality improvement activities as required. 17. Serves as a member of PCSG committees as requested. 18. Participates in evaluation of peers and support staff. 19. Furthers the mission of PCSG through active support of the strategic goals.
