Job Description

Job Title:
Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) / ABA TherapistPosition Summary The Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) / ABA Therapist provides direct one-on-one behavioral therapy to individuals diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder and other developmental disabilities under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA). The RBT implements behavior intervention plans (BIPs), skill acquisition programs, and supports clients in increasing functional communication, social skills, adaptive living skills, and reducing maladaptive behaviors. Key Responsibilities Provide direct ABA therapy in clinic, home, school, or community settings Implement individualized treatment plans designed by supervising BCBA/BCaBA Collect accurate and timely data on client behavior and skill acquisition Follow behavior intervention plans with fidelity Use evidence-based ABA strategies such as: Discrete Trial Training (DTT) Natural Environment Teaching (NET) Prompting and fading procedures Reinforcement-based interventions Support development of functional communication (including AAC devices when applicable) Manage and safely respond to maladaptive behaviors using approved crisis procedures Assist clients with daily living skills (toileting, feeding, hygiene, transitions, etc.) Participate in ongoing training and supervision sessions Maintain professional communication with supervisors and team members Ensure client safety and uphold ethical standards of ABA practice Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and agency policies Documentation & Data Collection Record session data accurately using designated software or data systems Document behavior incidents and session notes as required Report concerns or changes in client behavior to supervising clinician promptly Qualifications Current RBT certification (or willingness to obtain within required timeframe) High school diploma or equivalent (required) Bachelor's degree in psychology, education, ABA, or related field (preferred for ABA Therapist roles) Experience working with individuals with autism or developmental disabilities (preferred) Ability to follow detailed treatment protocols and behavior plans Strong communication and teamwork skills Physical Requirements Ability to sit, stand, bend, and move for extended periods Ability to safely implement behavior support strategies, including blocking or redirection when necessary Ability to work in environments that may include loud or high-stimulation settings Work Environment ABA clinic setting with possible community, home, or school-based services Fast-paced, team-oriented environment focused on client progress and skill development
