Full-Time, Days 8 - 4:30 p.m.
Onsite Summary:
The Genetic Counselor provides genetic counseling, supportive and follow up services to patients and family members at high risk for genetic and/or exposure related conditions.Responsibilities:
Provides genetic counseling, supportive and follow up services to patients and family members at high risk for genetic and/or exposure related conditions. Works with clients in regard to genetic disorders/birth defects after assessing, researching, and interpreting information. Provides information and testing recommendations related to managing the situation identified. Consults with physicians, allied health professionals, and/ or educators in regard to genetic issues. Educates lay persons, teachers, health care professionals, and/or payers through formal/informal presentations, pamphlets, and/or publications. Participates in policy/procedure setting regarding genetics issues at the institution and through local, state, or national meetings. Expands and develops genetic services through seeking, writing, and administering grants. Performs research as appropriate. Other duties as required.Other information:
Technical Expertise Experience working with all levels within an organization is required. Experience in healthcare is preferred. Proficiency in MS Office [Outlook, Excel, Word] or similar software is required.Education and Experience Education:
Master's degree in Genetic Counseling is requiredCertification:
Board Certification/board eligible by the National Board of Genetic Counseling [ABGC] and licensure/ licensure eligible in Ohio is required.Years of relevant experience:
3 to 5 years is preferred.Years of experience supervising:
