Genetic Counselor I Baylor College of Medicine - 3.8 Houston, TX Job Details Full-time $79,092 - $95,000 a year 14 hours ago Qualifications Certified Genetic Counselor (CGC) Master's degree Full Job Description Summary This is a clinical Genetic Counselor position for the pediatric genetics clinic at Texas Children's Hospital. The Genetics Counselor in this position will see patients in an inpatient and outpatient setting in pediatric genetics clinic at Texas Children's Hospital main campus. The Genetics Counselor will also have the opportunity to supervise and teach genetic counseling graduate students, clinical and laboratory fellows, and other learners. Job Duties Counsels patients and families in pediatric inpatient and outpatient settings who are at risk of having an underlying genetic disorder. Conducts preliminary research such as; family and patient medical histories, coordination of genetic testing, and review of patient referrals. Drafts and sends letter to patients summarizing the genetic counseling session. Letters are sent to the patient and referring physician. Answers patient's calls and assesses need for services. In some cases, refers clients to appropriate agencies and physicians. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Master's degree in Genetic Counseling. No experience required. Board-eligible or Board Certified Genetic Counselor (CGC) by the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC).
