Davis Health Center for Professional Practice of Nursing (CPPN) is the staff development department within the Patient Care Services (PCS) division of the university, dedicated to the professional development of the nursing workforce and career development. CPPN works with PCS and other professional nursing departments within the university to create and provide life-long learning activities, knowledge, and resources for the professional nursing staff and other UCDH staff to provide the best patient care. The Instructional Designer/Educational Technologist will serve as the primary point of contact and support for educational technology and instructional design needs through CPPN. Under the general direction of the Clinical Nurse Education Manager, the incumbent works with department staff, Nursing Professional Development Practitioners, and subject matter experts to understand their vision for their courses and assists in the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of quality content, assignments, cases, and simulation appropriate for adult learners. This role supports integration of technology tools into active learning experiences. Provides active project management for all assigned projects, coordinates with staff, and trains as appropriate to provide ongoing expansion of technology utilization. - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position A Bachelor's degree with coursework in utilization of Educational Technology or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience in the use of software applications supporting educational activities. Experience working with non-technical staff to create novel learning mediums and content delivery, as well as translate complex concepts and content using innovative learning techniques. Experience with tools used to produce web-based materials, such as Articulate suite, Qualtrics, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Captivate, digital video, digital audio, and editing software. Experience integrating multimedia into web-based synchronous and asynchronous courses, including hosting courses through video conferencing applications, such as WebEx, Zoom, and Microsoft Teams. Experience applying instructional technology in innovative ways to design effective learning and teaching solutions. Experience with learning management systems. Knowledge and experience with adult learning theory and learning objectives. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required to work effectively with staff and multi-disciplinary teams. Ability to anticipate problems and take preventive/corrective action to solve. Ability to consider alternatives and make appropriate decisions. Proficiency with word processing, presentation, and spreadsheet programs. Ability to present a professional image always while representing the University. Demonstrated leadership in project management, including coordinating project resources. Preferred Qualifications A demonstrable knowledge of web design principles and experience creating web pages.
