We are seeking a Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) who is passionate about supporting families through pregnancy, breast/chest feeding, and early parenthood. We are building a collaborative team focused on compassionate, evidence-based care. The Lactation Consultant will provide breastfeeding and infant feeding support through in-home visits throughout the Bay Area, office consultations in San Francisco, and lactation education classes for expecting and new parents. This role combines clinical lactation care, parent education, and collaboration with an interdisciplinary perinatal care team. This position is part-time with the opportunity to grow into a full-time role as demand increases. Ability to provide office visits and travel for in-home visits across the San Francisco Bay Area while conducting breast/chest feeding consultations, teaching classes, and education to new parents. We welcome newly licensed or recently graduated lactation consultants seeking mentorship and outpatient experience, as well as experienced IBCLCs looking to join a supportive professional community. Roles and Responsibilities
- Provide individualized lactation consultations for breastfeeding families
- Develop a personalized care plan
- Conduct in-home lactation visits for prenatal or postpartum families
- Provide office-based consultations when appropriate
- Teach lactation and breastfeeding education classes for expecting and new parents
- Assess infant feeding, latch, milk transfer, and maternal comfort
- Support families experiencing challenges such as painful latch, low milk supply, or infant oral restrictions
- Educate parents on breastfeeding, pumping, and feeding plans
- Document visits and communicate with the care team when appropriate
- Collaborate with perinatal professionals including bodyworkers, doulas, and other providers Qualifications
- Must have an active International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) licensure.
- Ability to work at least one weekend (Saturday or Sunday) per week.
- Be able to carry and transport at least 20-25 lbs to client's homes.
- Interest in mentorship and continued professional development
- Familiarity and knowledge of the hospital grade pumps, breast pumps and wearable pumps
- Knowledge and understanding of lactation tools including supplemental nursing systems (SNS), nipple shields and appropriate flange sizing
- Primary work location based in San Francisco, CA
- Willing to travel up to 40 miles throughout the San Francisco Bay Area for in-home lactation consultations
- Valid California driver's license and reliable transportation
- Strong communication, clinical assessment, parent education and interpersonal skills
- Ability to build supportive relationships with families from diverse backgrounds
- Comfortable working both independently and collaborating within a multidisciplinary care team
- Strong critical thinking, problem solving and clinical decision-making abilities
- Detailed-oriented with the ability to maintain accurate documentation and records
- Experience supporting lactating parents in a professional outpatient or inpatient setting
- Knowledge of tongue ties/oral restrictions and their impact on lactation or breast/chest feeding
- Fluent in English Scheduling
- At least three days per week, one day must be a weekend
- 6 hour shifts during training
- 8 hours after training, up to 3 home visits per day and/or 5 office visits per day What We Offer
