Job Description

Overview We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Lactation Consultant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of lactation practices and be committed to supporting new parents in their breastfeeding journey. This role is essential in providing education, support, and resources to ensure successful breastfeeding experiences for families. Responsibilities Assess the breastfeeding needs of mothers and infants, providing personalized guidance and support. Educate parents on proper breastfeeding techniques, anatomy, and physiology related to lactation. Develop individualized care plans based on assessments and ongoing evaluations. Provide information on the benefits of breastfeeding, addressing any concerns or challenges faced by mothers. Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care for mothers and infants. Conduct workshops or group sessions to educate larger audiences about breastfeeding practices. Maintain accurate records of consultations and follow-up care for each client. Stay updated on current research and best practices in lactation consulting. Experience Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology as it relates to lactation. Experience working in pediatrics or maternal health is preferred. Proficiency in case management to effectively coordinate care for clients. Excellent public speaking skills for conducting educational sessions or workshops. Multilingual or bilingual abilities are a plus, enhancing communication with diverse populations. Ability to analyze data related to breastfeeding outcomes and client feedback for continuous improvement.
