Days AdventHealth will bring a 60-acre health and wellness campus to Lake Nona in late 2026. This location will offer medical innovations on a campus designed around whole person health with comprehensive services, destination lifestyle programs, and much more that will shape the next generation of health care. We are proud to be a part of the growing Lake Nona community with an established comprehensive network of care. Our services include emergency services, urgent care, a wide range of medical specialists (including primary care), lab, imaging, orthopedics, sports medicine and rehabilitation.
  • Supports other consultants as needed. Participates in community education opportunities regarding breastfeeding, research projects, speaking engagements, and other company committees.
  • Conducts rounds on the maternal/infant units and other units with lactating mothers, evaluating and encouraging the nursing dyad by providing support and professional advice.
  • Works in various lactation centers, providing private consultations, answering the breastfeeding help line, facilitating weekly mother/baby luncheons, and selling breastfeeding products.
  • Plans and presents prenatal breastfeeding classes, collects evaluations, and makes necessary changes to improve classes.
  • Provides accurate and consistent information to clients and patients regarding breastfeeding and company policies and procedures.
  • Collaborates with hospital staff and provides in-service programs upon request.
  • Follows CDC isolation guidelines, demonstrates appropriate use of PPE, performs hand hygiene according to policy, and enforces safety regulations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Communicates effectively [Required]
  • Skilled in teaching adults and adolescents [Preferred]
  • Triage care based on patient needs [Required]
  • Organizational Skills [Required]
  • Skill and proficiency in applying highly technical principles, concepts, and techniques that are central to the profession [Required]
  • Skill in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care for the breastfeeding mother and baby acquired through 1-2 years of experience as a lactation consultant [Preferred]
  • Current research information regarding Breastfeeding [Preferred]
  • Maternity nursing and Newborn nursing knowledge [Preferred]
  • Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing [Required]
  • Ability to use Interpreter service appropriately [Required]
  • Additional languages preferred, especially Spanish [Preferred]
Education:
  • Associate's of Nursing [Required]
  • Bachelor's of Nursing [Preferred]
Work Experience:
  • 1+ acute care hospital [Preferred]
  • 2+ maternity or newborn experience [Preferred]
Licenses and Certifications:
  • Registered Nurse (RN) [Required]
  • Basic Life Support
  • CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]
  • Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) [Required] OR International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) [Required]
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) [Preferred]
