ABC TITLE
Lactation Consultant
CLASSIFICATION
Part-Time (4 hours per week); Non-Exempt; $26.00 hourly
SUMMARY:
This position will provide lactation consultant services under the direction of the ABC Program Manager. Lactation Consultant may provide intake, triage, scheduling, consultations, assign cases, communications, and quality assurance as needed.
Hourly pay rate:
$26.00 to $30.00 depending on experience Position hours are scheduled for 4 hours per week at our Baby Cafés located in Town-n-Country.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES
Triage and screen lactating participants. Adhere to Baby Café standards of care. Adhere to the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE) Code of Professional Conduct for IBCLCs, IBLCE Clinical Competencies for the Practice of IBCLCs, and the IBLCE Scope of Practice for IBCLCs. Provide lactation consultations at Baby Cafés, by phone, and over video conferencing as needed. Location(s) and service delivery method(s) may change based on scheduling/ community needs. Complete provider communications, charting, and documentation. Provide appropriate client follow up and referrals. Cover for other ABC staff at Baby Cafés and/or other ABC Program locations when staff are out. Deliver, pick-up, and clean electric breast pumps as needed. Attend all meetings and trainings as requested. Provide client data accurately and in a timely manner.
REQUIREMENTS
IBCLC (International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant) certification. Bilingual (English/Spanish) required. Excellent computer skills (Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook). Professional, self-directed, follow-through on projects and prompt responsiveness to internal and external stakeholders. Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills (e.g., nonjudgmental, objective, reflective, empathetic, patient, tactful) Must be sensitive to the cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of the population Champions for Children serves. Reliable vehicle, active auto insurance, and valid Florida driver license required. Successful completion of a Florida Level 2 criminal background check, motor vehicle records check and pre-employment drug screen. Ability to walk, stand, climb stairs, kneel, sit on floor, bend, reach, and manipulate objects; move materials up to 10 pounds on a regular basis; infrequently requiring moving materials weighing up to 20 pounds.
