Fitness Stroke.
Fitness is a Tampa-based startup offering personalized, science-based fitness training for stroke survivors who have completed clinical rehabilitation. We work one-on-one and in small groups — using specially developed methods and equipment — to help people rebuild strength, mobility, and independence, long after traditional therapy has ended. Our clients are stroke survivors who chose to keep going. We call them Heroes. Every person who walks through our doors has fought hard to get here, and we take that seriously.
Our mission:
helping more than one million stroke survivors take their lives back. That starts here, in Tampa, with you. The Role We're looking for a licensed Occupational Therapist who wants to do something different. Not a clinical rehab role. Not a hospital. A fitness studio — built specifically for stroke survivors who are ready to keep moving forward. You'll work directly with our clients in their fitness sessions, bringing your OT expertise to a setting where movement, motivation, and long-term wellbeing take center stage. You'll help adapt and guide training sessions, support individual client goals, and be a warm, knowledgeable presence that our clients and their caregivers can trust. You'll be part of a small, mission-driven team. Everyone at Stroke.
Fitness knows the story, carries the mission, and shows up for the people who count on us. That includes you. What You'll Do Guide and support fitness training sessions for clients with stroke and neurological conditions Apply your OT knowledge to adapt exercises and progressions to each client's individual needs and abilities Conduct intake assessments and contribute to personalized training plans Be a trusted presence for clients and caregivers — listen, explain, and encourage Collaborate closely with the team and log updates in our systems (GoHighLevel, Slack) Refer clients with medical questions to appropriate professionals, in line with our scope of practice Who You Are A licensed OT with a feel for movement. You hold an active Florida OT license and have experience working with neurological populations — particularly stroke survivors. You understand the clinical picture, but you thrive in an environment where fitness, not treatment, is the goal. Genuinely warm and patient. You're comfortable and natural around people who face physical and cognitive challenges. You listen more than you speak. You understand that for many of our clients, showing up here took real courage. A team player in a startup. Stroke.
Fitness is young and growing fast. Things don't always run on rails. You're flexible, proactive, and comfortable making decisions without a protocol for every situation. A clear communicator. You can explain complex neurological concepts in plain, accessible language — to a client, to a caregiver, and to colleagues who may not share your clinical background. Requirements Active Occupational Therapist license in the state of Florida (required) Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification (required) Experience working with stroke survivors or other neurological populations Strong interpersonal and communication skills in English Ability to work independently within a small, fast-moving team Based in or near Tampa / New Tampa / Hunters Green Nice to Have Conversational or fluent Spanish Experience in a fitness, wellness, or non-clinical setting Familiarity with neuroplasticity-based training approaches Background working with startup organizations What We Offer Meaningful work with a community of stroke survivors who are genuinely motivated to move forward A warm, close-knit team driven by a mission that matters Flexible part-time schedule — 20 hours/week, built around client bookings Competitive hourly compensation — to be discussed based on experience The chance to be part of something that has never been done before Interested?
