Our program goes beyond traditional symptom-management approaches by helping address challenges at the root-cause level through individualized sensory-motor and cognitive training. We work with children experiencing challenges including: ADHD symptoms Autism Spectrum Disorder Sensory processing difficulties Anxiety Emotional dysregulation Impulsivity and hyperactivity Behavioral challenges and defiance Academic and learning struggles Social and family relationship difficulties Visit our website to learn more about our program, hear client stories, and explore the research behind our work: https://www.brainbalancecenters.com/locations/kansas/overland-park Position Overview Brain Balance seeks a confident, emotionally regulated, physically capable professional to guide children through highly interactive sensory-motor and cognitive activities designed to stimulate neurological growth and functional change. This role looks a lot like personal training for children while combining elements of behavioral coaching, sensory integration, cognitive training, and emotional support. Many of our students present with significant impulsivity, hyperactivity, emotional dysregulation, behavioral resistance, Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD symptoms, sensory challenges, and difficulty maintaining engagement during sessions. Staff must be able to remain calm, safe, supportive, structured, and encouraging while confidently redirecting behaviors and maintaining session flow under pressure. This is a highly active, fast paced and physically demanding role requiring strong working memory, emotional resilience, confidence, body awareness, and the ability to quickly learn and deliver individualized programming with minimal reference to materials during sessions. Responsibilities Lead children through individualized sensory-motor and cognitive exercises Encourage improvement, giving more than they thought they had, cooperation, confidence, and emotional regulation during sessions AND fun Build strong rapport with children while maintaining structure and behavioral expectations Support children with varying levels of behavioral and emotional dysregulation Use calm, confident behavioral management strategies Maintain safety while physically supporting children during exercises and movement activities Learn and implement individualized programming with strong working memory and attention to detail Work collaboratively with team members in a fast-paced environment Maintain professionalism and emotional composure under pressure Physical Requirements This position is physically active and requires: Frequent transitions on and off the floor throughout sessions Working in hands-and-knees, crouched, kneeling, twisting, and reaching positions Spotting, guiding, stretching, pulling, pushing, and movement-based support Ability to safely support movement activities involving up to approximately 50 pounds High physical stamina and body awareness throughout multi-hour sessions Ability to remain calm and safe while working with children who may kick, pinch, bite, hit, resist participation, or become behaviorally escalated during moments of dysregulation Ideal Candidate Qualities We are looking for someone who is: Calm and confident under pressure Physically energetic and capable Emotionally regulated and patient Strong and confident with behavioral boundaries and redirection Quick-thinking with strong working memory Warm, encouraging, and relationship-oriented Outgoing, enthusiastic, and professional Comfortable managing challenging behaviors safely and professionally Passionate about helping children succeed If you are looking for deeply meaningful work and enjoy helping children grow through movement, connection, structure, and neurological development, we would love to meet you.
