Summary:
The role of Part-Time Prevention Educator plays an important role in supporting the community-level sexual violence prevention efforts of the Sexual Violence Resource Center of the Bluegrass (SVRC). As part of the prevention education team, you will help provide comprehensive prevention education programming to middle and high schools in the SVRC of the Bluegrass service region. This programming includes the It's My Space and Green Dot curriculum, as well as other prevention and training material as determined by the supervisor.

Essential Duties Prevention Education in Schools and Communities Receive all pertinent educational training(s) and subsequent certifications as required to implement a quality program and ensure program fidelity. Assist partner schools with organizing and delivering all components of prevention education programming, including school-wide assemblies, classroom modules, and safety survey reports. Deliver prevention education programming directly to middle school and high school students in the service region. Speak publicly to a variety of audiences, in numerous settings, across the 17-county service area. Support teachers in implementing program components such as Green Dot Club events, hotspot mapping, and community-level safety projects. Recruit and engage school partners for program implementation. Deliver prevention education programming (such as Green Dot Community) to community partners. Recruit and engage community partners to further diversity in community-level prevention education. Prevention Education Team Support and Staff Development Support the Prevention Education Team's efforts in planning and delivering community-level prevention projects and initiatives. Create and disseminate marketing materials related to prevention programming. Represent SVRC's Prevention Education efforts at community events. Maintain regular grant reporting, documentation/statistics data reporting, and grant compliance. Attend staff meetings and training(s). Attend seminars/classes for job skills improvement. Qualifications Understanding and dedication to SVRC's mission, vision, and values. Completion of 40-hour advocacy training provided by SVRC, and 12 hours of continuing education yearly. Excellent public speaking and group facilitation skills. Previous experience working with youth in small groups, classrooms, and larger audiences. Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends. Ability to work independently.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Public Health, or a related field.
Skills and Knowledge:
Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, active listening, and advocacy abilities. Ability to work collaboratively with diverse populations, age ranges, and community agencies. Ability to adapt to crisis situations and work under stress. Knowledge of sexual violence dynamics, legal systems, and victim rights. Ability to pass background check and reference checks. Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and willing to drive within SVRC's 17-county service area in the Bluegrass region of Kentucky, Ability to perform other job duties as assigned. Work Environment:
The duties of this position are performed in a typical administrative office setting but also require traveling. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level of the environment is usually minimal.
