Job Description

Position Overview Coworkers at The Guild at Raphael Village work with individuals 18-45 who may have Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down syndrome, or other developmental/intellectual disabilities to help them learn and reinforce independent living skills, social skills, pre-vocational/vocational training and employment skills, healthy living skills, arts-based vocational skills, and creative expression. This position focuses on enhancing the quality of life for participants through engaging activities, personal care, and fostering independence. Coworkers demonstrate compassion, patience and a commitment to promoting individual rights while ensuring a safe and supportive environment. General Responsibilities Work with Guild members in small groups to support them in making progress toward their individual service plan goals in independent living skills, social skills, pre-vocational and employment skills, healthy living skills, arts-based vocational skills, and creative expression. Support a small "homegroup" in navigating scheduling and individual needs. Small Group Instruction Lead classes in areas in which they have expertise or a specialized skill set, such as language arts, cooking, gardening, mixed media arts, handwork, painting or drawing. Lead wellness/movement classes as scheduled (e.g. walking, aerobics/dancing, calisthenics, etc.) Community Life Engagement Job Coach Accompany Guild members to volunteer or intern sites as scheduled and support them in working towards personal employment goals and development of: specific job skills, social skills, and other skills needed for success in a workplace. Drive (preferred) and/or transport Guild members using public transportation modes off-site for various volunteer and/or internship opportunities. Accompany Guild members on weekly social outings within the greater community Progress Notes Submit daily progress notes for Guild members. Submit monthly progress notes for your homegroup (others as needed) in collaboration with fellow coworkers to report on how Guild members are progressing towards their goals. Coworker Meetings Attend one or two one-hour weekly meetings to discuss Guild member progress, receive ongoing Medicaid-mandated training, and to learn about the principles, values and philosophy of Camphill communities including the core values (see Essentials below) set forth by Rudolf Steiner and Karl Kӧnig. Other Expectations Complete the initial sixteen (16) hours of required Medicaid training, including CPR/First Aid certification. Complete a minimum of eight (8) hours annually of Medicaid-mandated training. A valid driver's license and operating vehicle is preferred but not required. Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on empathy and respect for individual rights. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Pay:
$17.00 - $19.00 per hour
