We provide a rigorous, standards-based program with strong supports and regular progress monitoring to ensure success for every student. Position Summary Guilmette Middle School (grades 5-8) seeks a passionate Health Teacher to provide engaging, standards-based health education for students across grades 5-8. The teacher will help students develop the knowledge and skills needed to make informed decisions, build healthy habits, and navigate the social, emotional, and physical challenges of adolescence. The Health Teacher will create a safe and inclusive learning environment where students can discuss relevant topics, reflect on their experiences, and engage in meaningful academic discourse. The teacher will work collaboratively with colleagues, families, and school leaders to support student well-being and contribute to a positive school culture. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Instruction and Student Learning
  • Plan and deliver standards-based health instruction aligned to state and district expectations.
  • Teach health concepts related to physical, social, emotional, and mental well-being.
  • Create engaging learning experiences that promote critical thinking, responsible decision-making, and healthy habits.
  • Incorporate opportunities for discussion, reflection, and academic discourse on age-appropriate health topics.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners and assess student learning to inform instructional decisions. Program Development
  • Develop and maintain a health curriculum that supports student growth across grades 5-8.
  • Utilize current research and best practices to deliver relevant and effective health instruction.
  • Maintain instructional materials and resources that support student learning. Collaboration
  • Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and classroom expectations.
  • Participate actively in grade-level teams, professional learning communities, and schoolwide initiatives.
  • Collaborate with school counselors, nurses, and other staff members to support student well-being.
  • Contribute to a positive and collaborative school culture. Professional Responsibilities
  • Participate in ongoing professional learning and growth.
  • Uphold district policies, professional standards, and ethical responsibilities.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or designee. Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution.
  • Massachusetts DESE licensure in Health/Family and Consumer Sciences (appropriate grade level) or applicable licensure.
  • SEI Endorsement. Qualifications Preferred
  • Experience teaching health at the middle school level.
  • Experience working in urban school settings.
  • Knowledge of adolescent development and social-emotional learning.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
