Job Description
Job Requirements Under general supervision provides education services within the simulation center for clinical education related to resuscitation programs including but not limited to Fundamentals of Early Resuscitation (FER), Resuscitation Prevention and Management (RPM), and Procedural Sedation. Facilitates the delivery of high-quality education and staff professional development to enhance patient care, patient safety and experience. The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification. They are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all job responsibilities performed. Conducts clinical education for the courses outlined above in the simulation center consistently and reliably. Develops a schedule of courses in concert with Simulation Center Director or other designated individual for Midtown and Downtown campuses sufficient to meet the needs of UMMC personnel. In collaboration with clinical and management staff, instructs and compiles evaluations from learners on the assigned programs. Provides feedback and suggestions to simulation and clinical staff for best practices updates of educational programs, if needed. Assists with content and AV materials development and evaluates course effectiveness. Identifies ways to provide learning experiences, assess performance and document competency that are cost effective and feasible for implementation in the clinical setting. Designs and maintains evaluation and survey procedures to monitor effectiveness of educational activities and recommends or initiates changes as appropriate. Complete four (4) AHA CPR courses as required by the AHA for maintenance of certification within the two-year certification period in coordination with the AHA Programs Coordinator. Performs all other duties as assigned. Work Experience Education & Experience - Preferred Course work in education is preferred. One year in a role performing staff education is preferred. Critical Care, specifically ICU/CCU experience is preferred. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Demonstrated ability to put educational theory into practice in the simulated setting including debriefing. Demonstrated leadership abilities, including collaborative, consultative and coaching skills are required. Demonstrated interpersonal skills and highly effective verbal and written communication skills. Exemplify advanced professional development through involvement and leadership in external professional activities and organizations, and through involvement with professional associations, publication and research/development activities related to areas of expertise. Supports and mentors staff to become involved in similar activities.
